Powder
blush is the most opaque form of cheek color, it gives a soft, sophisticated
effect that's great for the office or dinner out. Before you get started, prep
your face with foundation, and set it with a translucent powder. Powder blush is
then the last step, so it will adhere better. Prepare your blush brush by
dipping it into the blush compact, and tap it against the back of your hand to
shake off excess.
step
one
Smile to reveal your cheekbones. After finding your cheekbones and prepping your
brush, you're ready to apply the color. Start at the apple of the cheek, and
stroke gently back toward the hairline in one motion. Use a brush sized to fit
your face for precise application.

"Women tend to go back and forth with the brush, which creates streaks," says
N.Y.C. makeup artist Paula Dorf. Stroke in only one direction: toward the
hairline. For an allover glow, continue up the temple along the hairline.
step
three
Now you can finish the application. Blend the color from the cheekbone toward
the jaw line to avoid creating a solid line, but still concentrate the color at
the top of your cheekbone for a lifting effect.
Smile. That's all you have to do to locate the
right place on your face for cheek color. It takes such little effort,
especially when you consider the benefits: Blush can liven up a washed-out
complexion, accentuate cheekbones, and lift the entire face. Placement is key
here's three different ways to apply blush for three different looks.
look
one
One subtle spot for blush is on the apple of the cheek. Placing blush here adds
a hint of color, punching up your complexion, so you won't look washed out. And
because it's a small area, you can wear a brighter color.

look
two
Applying blush to your entire cheek bone accentuates your natural facial
features. Color in this area contours the face by playing up bone structure.
Place blush high on the cheekbone to draw the eye up and give the face an
instant lift.
look
three
When you apply blush beyond the cheeks, you can brighten your entire face. But
remember to be subtle when you apply color. Extending blush along the hairline
"is more natural, like the color is your own," says makeup artist. Stick with
brown-based powder it's less messy for allover application.
