The Bookstore!
(In association with Amazon.com)
All right, all you procrastinators, I am about to introduce you to one of the best ways to procrastinate around: reading! Those of you who do read know what I'm talking about, and those who don't should start! Which is why I set up this bookstore. Right off this page you can browse through a GREAT selection of books. You can even buy them right off the links on this page! That's right: buy. All without leaving your computer. The books that you want will be deliver right to your door in a few DAYS (not weeks, when you've forgotten about it). And the best part is that I get commission on all the books you buy off my page! That's right, now you can support the Procrastinator's Aid AND get great books all at the same time!
So what now, you ask? Well, you have two options: You can either go to Amazon.com's main page, where you can browse their entire library (the biggest I have ever seen: you want it, they have it). You could also look at the books I list on this page. Just click on the title to send you to a page with more information (price, reviews, etc.) and an order form, so you can buy it. I have read all the books on this page, so I know that they are good. I will put a notice in the "What's New" page when I add books to this page. So without further ado, here are the books that I love:
The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings
"My Diary. My Unexpected Journey. There and Back Again. And What Happened After. Adventures of Five Hobbits. The Tale of the Great Ring, compiled by Bilbo Baggins from his own observations and the accounts of his friends. What we did in the War of the Ring. The Downfall of the Lord of the Rings and the Return of the King. (as seen by the Little People; being the memoirs of Bilbo and Frodo of the Shire, supplemented by the accounts of their friends and the learning of the Wise.) Together with extracts of the Books of Lore translated by Bilbo in Rivendell."
This is how the book is described in the last chapter of the last book. I can't praise this book too highly. While not a comedy, it is the ONLY book I have ever read that when I finished reading it, I did not want it to end. It takes place in a fantasy world called Middle-Earth. It has something for everyone: adventure, mystery, suspense, ancient artifacts, magic, fabulous creatures (for example: elves, treants, dwarves, and dragons), dangerous quests, and so much more. I recommend it to everyone, and if you have not read it, you don't know what you're missing! It is available in several formats in Amazon.com, but here are the ones I think would be most popular:
- The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings boxed set
- The Lord of the Rings (without The Hobbit) in hardcover
- The Hobbit in paperback
- The Fellowship of the Ring (part 1 of the Lord of the Rings) in paperback
- The Two Towers (part 2 of the Lord of the Rings) in paperback
- The Return of the King (part 3 of the Lord of the Rings) in paperback
There are also lots of book about Middle-Earth in Amazon.com (like the Simarilion, an atlas, and history books). I have not read these, however, so I won't recommend them. You can always get them off the main page by doing a search.
The Reality Disfunction Series
This is one of my favorite series so far. It has the most complicated plot-line I have ever seen! (I like that kind of thing) Not for everyone, but a very good read. It takes place in the 27th century, and has all sorts of battle-scenes. Find out what happens when the dead return to life and start possessing bodies of the living. The four books are:
- The Reality Disfunction (part 1) in paperback
- The Reality Disfunction (part 2) in paperback
- The Neutronium Alchemist (part 1) in paperback
- The Neutronium Alchemist (part 2) in paperback
- I think there is one more that just came out, I'll give that to you when I get to it
The Little Prince
(in paperback or hardcover )
One of my favorite books, it is not a comedy. It has various levels of understanding. You can look at it as a fairy tale, or you can look deeper. I have owned this book for several years, and every time I read it I see something new. It's a wonderful story. The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy (A Trilogy in Four Parts)
If I was asked to name any single book that most influenced me, this would be it. Written by Douglas Adams, this is the funniest book I have ever read. If you want a zany story, full of quotes like, "It hung in the air in the exact same way bricks don't," or hilarious characters like Arthur Dent, the last surviving human after the world has been blown to bits by the Vogons to make way for an interstellar bypass, you will love this series! Find out the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything, and then, more importantly, find out the question!
- The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy (part 1 of the trilogy in four parts) in paperback
- The Restaurant at the End of the Universe (part 2 of the trilogy in four parts) in paperback
- Life, the Universe, and Everything (part 3 of the trilogy in four parts) in paperback
- So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish (part 4 of the trilogy in four parts) in paperback
- Mostly Harmless (part 5 of the trilogy in four parts) in paperback
A Canticle for Leibowitz
This is a book I just recently read, but I fully recommend it. It's the tale of the Earth and the holy brothers of Leibowitz after a nuclear war plagues the earth. Watch civilization go from the dark ages to the new information age, and to the brink of disaster, again.
