Modellers
of Ballarat Modellers of Ballarat are a club of model builders who have a diverse range of modelling interests. Some of the club members make model aircraft and others make cars, trucks and military armour. One of the growing areas of modelling is Science Fiction. Since the growth in popularity of Star Trek and Star Wars, people are building the models of their favourite SCI-FI show. Movies have also influenced modelling. Since the movie TITANIC was made there have been numerous models in a variety of scales of the TITANIC.
The Internet can be a valuable resource for modellers with websites from manufacturers and enthusiasts providing information about models and chat rooms for people to discuss a particular project. Modelling can be a family affair, passed down from generation to generation. NewsWeb spoke to Matthew and Benjamin Davies who caught the modelling bug from their father Garry, who has been making models since he was a child. Mathew and Benjamin make models of cars and some aircraft. Matthew likes to make emergency vehicles and Benjamin focuses on classic hot rods.
