Regent
Multiplex The modern facilities at the Regent Multiplex cinema are fast becoming popular with its convenient aides that makes life easier for all its patrons. We spoke to Andrew Raven about how the Regent caters for people with disabilities. He has worked at the Regent Multiplex for 6 months, and his day to day activities include being a Personal Assistant to the Manager and general duties
Mr Raven said the cinemas facilities are adaptable to suit individual needs, including the addition of ramps and access to lifts. In the main theatre, there is entry available through the emergency exits for people restricted to wheelchairs. The Regent Multiplex also caters for people with hearing problems. They recently screened "Mission Impossible II" with subtitles for the hearing impaired as part of Hearing Awareness Week. Due to popularity, these screenings can be arranged by contacting the Regent staff and making a request. Staff are friendly and non-discriminative and have been trained to assist disabled patrons. For people who require the use of a wheelchair, it can be helpful to ring ahead but not necessary, for use of ramps and assistance. The Regent Multiplex is very community minded and will gladly show interest in local events.
