PAINTING ART IN A NEW LIGHT
At school she was a very creative person in Art, but focused on sport. When Pam was diagnosed with Polyneuropathy (Polyneuropathy is a condition that involves decreased movement or sensation associated with nerve damage) she was motivated to paint again. Pam is a high achiever, and believes that her physical condition has helped her to return to her painting. It has also given her a lot of self-esteem. Pam does lots of her paintings with her mouth, and she explained that this was really difficult at first. She also said that it's hard on her eyes as she works so close to her canvas.
Pam also keeps herself
busy with community projects doing paintings for Mouth & Foot
Painting Artist Association, painting poles in the main street of
Linton. She also does solo exhibitions and hopes to write and illustrate
a children's book. People can see Pam's paintings at her gallery in Linton, her cards have been published locally and worldwide.
Pam's advice to young aspiring artists is; "To follow your dreams, respect your own creativity. Keep with it. Not everyone will love your work. We would like to thank
Pam for arranging a special visit to her gallery at "Peacock
Cottage," which proved to be very inspiring. By Rachael Lynch |
