EMPLOYMENT OPTIONS FOR BALLARAT'S YOUTH

Ballarat Employment Options (BEO) is a job network agency providing an Intensive Assistance Program for job seekers under 25 years of age.

Consultant, Megan Henley said BEO provides any funding for any issue that's stopping you or making it difficult for you to find a job. Areas in which financial assistance is made available include costs for training courses, interview clothing and even getting your licence. BEO can also help provide personal résumés and interview letters.

BEO also has an Intensive assistance program which requires each job seeker to do certain activities to help them find work and meet the Centrelink requirements. Miss Henley said they (BEO) provide a service for job seekers who are unable to afford lessons for their drivers licence.

BEO have had success recently in the areas of Retail and Food services, Miss Henley said.

She said it can be hard sometimes getting young people work because they may not have the right training or experience to go out into the workforce. However there are more financial incentives for employers to take on young people including the Youth Incentive Scheme.
