FRIDAY NIGHT QUESTIONS

.

Record - 2004

.

One of our former members, Heather "Hebby" Hodges, decided she would ask a question one Friday night to break the monotony, and would give a small prize to whoever answered it correctly the quickest.  After a great response, Heather suggested we do this every week, with the winner of the previous round asking a question the next week.  This is now a Friday night institution - though prize-giving is voluntary - so here is a record of the Yowie Super Group Friday Night Questions.

Rules...

1.  The Question is to be posted between 7 and 8 PM AET on Friday nights.
2.  The Question can be about one subject only but it can have multiple parts.
3.  First correct answer is the winner.

Jayden = God Has Heard
Alan = Handsome
Cherry = Cherry Fruit

Sentence: God has heard the young woman's prayer for a
handsome child with hair the colour of a cherry fruit!

 Chook  As most people probably already realize, today is Friday the 13th, a date commonly associated with bad luck.  Tell me the reason for this irrational fear. The modern basis for the Friday the 13th superstition stems from Friday October the 13th, 1307. On this date, the Pope of the church in Rome in conjunction with the King of France, carried out a secret death warrant against the Knights Templar.  Steve

Cum rex gloriae Christus infernum debellaturus intraret, et chorus angelicus ante faciem ejus protas principum tolli praeciperet, sanctorum populus, qui tenebatur in morte captivus, voce lacrimabili clamabat dicens: Advenisti desiderabilis, quem expectabamus in tenebris, ut educered hac nocte vinculatos de claustris.  Rowan  In which of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories does Holmes utter the immortal phrase, "Elementary, my dear Watson"?  None of them.
That's right, in all of the famous Sherlock Holmes stories, not once does Holmes utter what has become his catchphrase: "Elementary, my dear Watson". He uses the phrase "My dear Watson" on a number of occasions, and says "Elementary" once or twice (such as in "The Crooked Man"), but never in any story does he actually say, "Elementary, my dear Watson". The first known instance of this phrase occurred, to the best of my knowledge, in the movie, "The Return of Sherlock Holmes", which was also the first Sherlock Holmes "talkie".
