Girl Against the Jungle by Monica Vincent
Publication date: 1987 Number of pages: 38 Reviewed by Chiung-Wen July 1996 Do you like adventure? Girl Against the Jungle, by Monica Vincent, is about a girl named Suzanne who is lost in a jungle. There are many physical and psychological dangers. One day, Suzanne and her mother are on their way home, but the plane crashes. Although Suzanne is alive, she is in the jungle by herself. At first, she can feed her stomach with a little candy. She eats one piece of candy for each meal, but she loses it later in the jungle. Though her body is in pain, and she is tired and hungry she tells herself that she must not give up. She has to go home. There are many dangerous animals in the jungle, but she is not ever afraid of them because she is eager to go home. No matter what happens to her, she sets her mind on surviving; she does not give up. In my opinion, the author is trying to tell us how to overcome dangers in disadvantageous situations. She also tells us if we are determined and do the right things, we can make dreams come true. I like this book because it reminds me that if we are not persistent, we can not do anything. And it tells me it is important to be a daring girl. So I recommend it. Why don't you read it right now? |
