Happiness … Maybe we should look at it as my dog Raven does.
Today hubby was off. We decided to head for the lake to fish. It’s all of maybe 10 miles out of town so no big deal. I thought he would enjoy fishing after having the teacher meeting for Ashley.
We got Raven and took off … It was so deserted (as always) but it was cold. Well after we had been over 100 for most of the summer, 50 is like 0. I hate to admit it but mom often complains how cold it is here, and I tend to agree with where she is coming from .. She lives life in 70-90 degrees.
Anyways, Raven got a treat! Literally too. We went to WM to buy pants since I need some for my new job, and hubby’s were worn out. We had to get our pup a few more rawhides and treats. When we got home we put the bags on the kitchen floor before we sorted out. You know she stuck her head in each one and was wagging and pointing to the one that contained her treats!
We then told her we were going.. All you have to say is “GO” she starts the coolest happy dance ever! Picture snoopy with a bit more zest. Still has the puppy nuttiness.
We went to our newest spot to fish. It is called the “stillway” don’t know what it means at all but hubby likes it there.
We opened the door and let her explore. WOW bounding everywhere, sniffing peeing etc. so happy to be able to do what she wanted without the collar pulling her back. She even went to the top and then ran down the steps to get back to us. She bounds around the fenced area where hubby was leaning over fishing. Kiss … runs off the other way. She then went down to the rocks. Stopped sniffed and pointed at the exact spot where hubby had sat the night before. Did she know?
She happily bounded back and did the perimeter run again. She was so happy to be out. Smelling hunting in the air hubby says. We got back and relaxed. She was so content to be by daddy’s side laying with her head on his leg.
As I go to get the kid from school (rain), she looks at me as if to say “that’s ok I’m too pooped to GO anyway.”
We come back home. She happily greets each kid with a sniff and a wag and a lick. She is so happy everyone is home that she plops in the middle of the floor with a new rawhide. YUM! I kick the knot of the old one past her. She looks wags and goes back to the new one.
Side note: To Raven the knots are like a ball to retrieve. She gets one and rolls it with her nose, then grabs it and throws it in the air, pausing for a brief second to see if anyone is looking and then slaps it around between her paws. (picture a dog dribbling a basket ball back and forth). She then pounces on the knot and proceeds to chew on it. It is the FUNNIEST thing to see.
Dinnertime! She stacks out the prime spot. An area that she can see the kitchen watching hubby cook, the living room incase someone wants to play with her, and the bedrooms incase anyone comes out of them that wants to GO!
She usually gets a scrap or 2 of meat that is being cooked. Yum! And what ever else that falls is bonus. She really loves it when the kids and or I cook. When we cook, well extra stuff falls. Yippee….
So now it is dinnertime and we are at our prospective places. We let her sit next to us and bum. We don’t let her whimper or anything so she gently taps your leg if you don’t give her a piece. When she gets her sample. She promptly puts her head back on your leg to let you know … thanks can I have some more… PLEASE!!!
Now I sit here at the computer eating her head is on my leg as usual. She is getting her sample of the food. She takes the food so daintily from me. No hard biting I may not get more she thinks. After her samples are done I continue to eat finishing my veggies. She puts her head back. I tell her… Raven the meat is all gone; you don’t like the veggies… she looks… HUH? I show her… look. From a distance not coming near the food itself, she sniffs. UGH veggies… I suppose I will leave now…. She slowly trots off stopping midway and sniffing… bummer I don’t smell any more meat.
She comes back later… Sniffs at the water dish that is down here for her… (one on each floor). She didn’t drink so I get up and fill it with new water. She wags but goes off to find the kids eating or something.
And that was Raven’s day. She got a bit more fun than normal so she got a good nap to make up for it. A happy great day, bummed, played, ran around … a lot!! Got to be with my master more than normal, bummed some more. A+ wagg waggg lick!
Have a BLOB kinda day…
