A prophetical record, beginner of a new musical style. This album is played by a well-blended band, not by 9 soloist like often happens in jazz; all tunes are shorter than 3 minutes and half and with more care for ensemble playing than soloing. This set also introduce to all jazz listener two instruments hard to find in small bands: French Horn and Tuba. Best solos played by Lee Konitz, altough Miles Davis sounds clearer, with less mistakes than ever.

Un disco profetico, iniziatore di un nuovo genere musicale. Questo è un album suonato da una ben amalgamata band, non da 9 solisti come spesso capita nel jazz, i cui brani non passano i 3 minuti e mezzo, con un occhio di riguardo più all'ensemble che agli assoli. Questo disco, inoltre, presenta al pubblico del jazz due strumenti poco usuali nelle piccole formazioni: il corno e la tuba. I soli migliori sono di Lee Konitz, nonostante Miles Davis souni più pulito e con meno stecche del solito.
