Getz meets Mulligan in Hi-Fi

A very swinging release that team up the greatest baritonist of all time, Gerry Mulligan, with "the Sound" Stan Getz. The other sidemen come from Getz's quartet and they play in a perfect way to create a very joyful swing. A set headed to medium-fast times with only a ballad, penned by Mulligan himself and titled..."Ballad". Very interesting the swap of horns on the first three songs of the CD version that highlight the wonderful Mulligan's sound also on Tenor. An amazing record I don't hesitate to put in my favorite top ten.

Un disco molto brillante ritmicamente che unisce il più grande sax baritono di tutti i tempi, Gerry Mulligan, con "the sound" Stan Getz. Gli altri componenti del gruppo provengono dal quartetto di Getz e la loro esucuzione è perfetta nell'intento di creare uno swing molto allegro e trascinante. Una sessione dedicata a brani medio-veloci con solo una ballad, composta da Mulligan e intitolata..."Ballad". Molto interessante lo scambio di sax sui primi tre brani dell'edizione in CD che evidenzia il favoloso suono di Mulligan anche sul tenore. Un disco sorprendente che non esito ad inserire nella top ten dei miei preferiti
