Chet Baker Sings It Could Happen to You

First steps of Chet Baker as a vocalist were moved in 1953 but yet on this album, recorded during the summer of 1958 Chet is heard in fine form, with a vocal technique that has really improved during those 5 years. Of the 12 songs in the program most are ballads sung with a lot of passion by young Chet; but on "Dancing on the Ceiling" or "You make me feel so young" his voice drives a good swing through the whole songs. A wonderful Kenny Drew accompaigns with a very light touch that fits very well into Baker's West Coast Style. A must have for Chet Baker's fans or a good starting point to get closer to this great artist.

I primi passi di Chet Baker come cantante risalgono al 1953 ma già in quest'album registrato nell'estate del 1958 Chet è in ottima forma, con una tecnica vocale decisamente migliorata in quei 5 anni. Dei 12 brani in programma la maggior parte sono ballad che il giovane Chet interpreta con passione; ma su "Dancing on the Ceiling" o "You make me feel so young" la sua voce trascina un ottimo swing per tutto il brano. Un ottimo Kenny Drew accompagna con tocco leggero che bene s'intona allo stile West Coast di Baker. Un disco imperdibile per i fan di Chet Baker oppure un ottimo punto di partenza per chi si vuole avvicinare a questo grande artista.
