STORIES
When I went to high school I took a Creative Writing course. One of our assignments was to write a short story. It was in my Sophomore year, 1969, that I first discovered John. His music spoke to me in volumes.I decided to write about him. I had listened to his music non-stop and felt like I knew him.
That was only the beginning of my writing career. Maggie was born in that Creative Writing course and, if memory serves me, I got an A.
I stopped writing after that but about 10 years later, as I was going through some old papers, I found MAGGIE. I read it and reread it. And then I thought to myself, "Ok, let's change it a bit", sort of update or revise it. So I did and I even added more to it!
Maggie has been read by a lot of people and every one of them have cried, laughed and, some who knew John, told me YES, that's the way he was perfectly!
That was the start.....then The Cabin was written. And others came.
After Maggie and The Cabin were written I wanted John to have them so much. At one concert I brought them and gave them to a guard to give to John. I had included my name and address. But I never heard anything. Ok, so perhaps the guard didn't give them to John or they got lost.
Sooo....one year my family and I went to Aspen. We knew, from a friend, where John's office was. We went there, hoping John wasn't there. To have run into him while he was home would be like intruding on his "free time". Luckily, he wasn't there. But we gave his secretary the stories. She assured us that she would give them to John. Still no note from him either way. Whether he liked them or not.
I just forgot about it until after he crossed over, and I feel so compelled to share these with his family and friends. Perhaps one day I may get a small note from one of his family, saying nothing other than, "THANK YOU!"
I had always wanted to write more, but as John always said about his songs.....these stories are magical. I don't know where or how they came. And I think Pup will agree, we just plucked them from air as they floated by.
I couldn't have gone on with the stories if it hadn't been for my sister, WolfPup.
