Up Close & Personal with JASON KING

Jason King, 25, is one proud export of YTSS-Yishun 21's vision of SOUL.
We catch up with him & asked him to confess to us something we do not know about him.
Read what this ex-Prefect has to say about his work as an entertainer, life and YTSS!!!

1) What's something you missed about YTSS?
Occasionally over the years since I left YTSS to study in the British International School, I have often missed my ECA- the Boys Brigade which I had a very close attachment to before I left.

2) How is life as a student and prefect back then?
Life was pretty good back then as a student since I was given the Guinness Stout Effort Award for helping Charles travel to and from school for two years. Not to mention the interviews with the papers.
As a prefect, it was great! I got to lead the pledge for a whole year in sec 2 during assembly and flag lowering. I also had my ways dealing of with the rebels! It takes one to know one!

3) Any chance we catch you on stage performing on National Day or Teacher Day during your time in school?
I was too busy doing the PA system for the shows! Haha!

4) How's life as a performer now?
Like any job there's pros and cons. I love the adrenaline and euphoria I get when I perform live. However, its harder work then a lot of people realise. Once you're in showbiz, its hard to get out, even if one wants to. Some project or someone will get you in in no time.

"I must say that being in YTSS
has given me numerous skills that have
made me who I am today."

5) Is there any aspect of life/teaching in YTSS that has nurtured to become who you are today?

I must say that being in YTSS has given me
numerous skills that have made me who I am today. Being a monitor, prefect and boys brigade member has taught me valuable lessons such as team work and discipline.

6) What's something we do not know about Jason King?

There's a lot of things you do not know about me! HAHA! One is that I have a third nipple, the only other person who has this is Mark Wahlberg the actor. Do not expect any pictures though I've been told its very sexy!!!

7) What's your view on the newly set-up Yishun Town Alumni?

I think its great! All institutions should have an Alumni.

8) If given a choice, will you choose to study at YTSS again?

Only if I was given the same privileges! HA!!

9) Lastly, any words for our aspiring alumni members who want to follow your path into the entertainment line?

I say go for it! It's hell of a winding road. You need to have thick skin to handle rejections in your face and be prepared to learn that it is not as glamorous as the media makes it out to be. I must say there are wonderful people in the industry who become good friends while on the other hand someone is always ready to take your place so you better keep training.
