Away we go.
By: Lucus
staring at the sky, as the clouds float by, watching the stars, as they shine, as they shine. I am starting too feel lonely and, the stars Remind me of you. Staring at the sea, the wind blows the scent of you... My heart aches, all I want is you. It feels like forever, I want to feel your touch again, though it may seem like eternity I wont stop till I see you again. Though we're far away, I think of you. Devoted to you, my heart is never wrong. Walking down the street, I stop to see, a silluette of you, though I couldn't see, was it really you. I know that your not really gone you will come back to me some day. Though my heart starts to ache. I know I'll be with you again. It feels like forever, I want to feel your touch again, and though it may seem like eternity I wont stop till I see you again. I know that your not really gone you will come back to me some day. Though my heart starts to hurt again. I know I'll be with you again.
Yuki Akari stood in a mirror, gazing at his dull reflection. His light green hair seemed to be fading out again, a stripe of light blond can been seen down the center of his head. His cloths were like his personality, black. No colour could be seen, but like anyone was going to see his Santa boxers, right? He leaned in closer to the full-length mirror, staring at the small imperfections in his complexion. His Violet eyes were blood shot from lack of sleep, circles of black and purple formed around his eyes.
His lack of sleep was not necessarily a bad thing, for Yuki has become more and more afraid of drifting off in to nightmares. He stays up late into the night, writing or drawing to his hearts content. One thought constantly floated into his mind. ‘Why must I feel so alone?’ Yuki could only think of one answer. Because he is alone, he has been since before he could remember. The only release from this loneliness is Eternity, His band. When he was in his small group of friends, all of the nightmares, and thoughts of death seemed to vanish.
Yuki took a step back from the mirror. ‘Yep, I look utterly depressed.’ He thought. He walked past his dresser to the small window, which lead to the roof. He stare out into the world, houses stretched down to near the shore line of the giant ocean, while in the other direction, nothing but trees filled. Occasionally he would see smoke over top the trees, but he thought nothing of it.
Yuki could hear his Mother, grabbing plates and other items downstairs. He got angry just thinking about her. She was cold when it came to certain things. Anything ‘un-natural’, or ‘weird’ she either dismisses it, or gets angry.
He continued down the stairs directly in front of his room, and walked straight into the living room. His little brother Haru, sat on the floor with his keyboard, playing the only tune he could think of at the time, a rather sad sounding melody filled the room. Yuki took a seat on the couch, and started thinking. ‘So, this is it? Last day home for a month.’ He ran a hand through his green hair while he sighed.
“Yuki?” came Haru’s voice as the sad music stopped.
“What is it?”
“I thought you would be happy you’re leaving for Valice, but you don’t look it at all.”
‘It’s not that I’m not happy I’m leaving,’ Yuki said telepathically to Haru as their mother walked in carrying a tray of tea and cookies. ‘Its just, without me here, mom will be yelling at you instead’
Haru laughed, but then quickly stopped as he saw his mother’s puzzled face. There was an awkward silence between the three of them. Mother placed the tray on the table and sat down in the recliner next to the coffee table.
“Do you have your things packed?” mother asked abruptly.
“Yeah, they’re in my bag on my bed.” Yuki said staring into his teacup Haru just handed to him. He could see his reflection in the cup. Whatever happiness he felt, he could see disappear in his eyes.
Mother took a sip of her tea, and the silence resumed. Yuki lost his train of thought. He could barley focus on the things around him. Thoughts and Images filled his head. None of them were happy.
“Who’s picking you up?” She inquired again.
“Kyel and Dave.” He replied to his mother.
‘And Jason.’ He said telepathically to Haru.
They were always doing this; Yuki would say one thing to mother, and another to Haru, at the same time. Haru seemed to be receptive to Telepathy, and an un-natural ability to grow plants. His whole room is filled with plant life. Roses of almost every colour. He even managed to, some how, make a breed of rose, that blooms a Blue-green colour. He hides it from mother, knowing that she doesn’t except anything ‘un-natural’ or ‘weird’. Yuki, on the other-hand, cannot make plants grow, he can barley keep a cactus alive, and they don’t need much water. However, he has other abilities, some of which he hasn’t shown Haru yet. Along with the Telepathy, Yuki has a verity of Telekinesis. The ability to move things with the mind, or a thought, although, he thinks it’s more of gravity control rather then Telekinesis. This he hasn’t shown Haru, for the fear that his brother would want him to Fly him around town, or re-arrange his room for him, something that takes a lot of energy out of him. Yuki can barley move his guitar, he is still experimenting with this ability, which is another reason why he hasn’t told Haru. He has told his brother about his intermittent Precognition, and his ability to control people’s thoughts and actions, though; Yuki doesn’t much like these abilities.
“Yuki, what is the Matter with you?” Mother asked, while raising her voice un-necessarily.
“I’m tired. I couldn’t sleep last night.” He lied.
“I see, well you should get some sleep tonight. It’s a good thing you can’t take that damned computer with you.” Mother replied in a very know it all type attitude. “Talking to those damned people all the time. They could be perverted, disgusting, guys pretending to be women for all you know.”
‘Why doesn’t she know that you only have your band-members on your contact list.’ Haru interrupted telepathically.
‘She wouldn’t believe me, and she would get mad if Jason was on there.’ He replied to his brother. ‘Don’t tell her about the lap-top, Dad gave me.’
He didn’t reply to his mother, knowing that any comment from him would only make her angry, and she would lead her to yell more.
A knock on the door interrupted the silence. Thank god for Dave.
Haru got up promptly to answer the door. Surely enough, it was Dave, wearing his nicest black suit. After a small fit of laugher, Haru managed to blurt out “You look like a Penguin!!” then started his fit of laughter again.
“Haha, very funny Haru. Yuki, get your stuff, we’re going to be late.”
“Working on it.” Yuki said as he ran upstairs, grabbed his guitar, backpack, and made sure that his Laptop is hidden between his clothes. As he ran back down, his mother was standing in the doorway of the living room, eyeing him like a deviant child who had just done something immoral. Yuki got to the doorway, hugged his little brother goodbye and just left without a word.
While in the car, Yuki sat directly behind his best friend Jason and directly beside Kyel. Dave was in the driver’s seat; he was too busy concentrating on where he was going to talk. Kyel is rather a conserved individual, barley talks, but when he does it’s usually insightful or insulting. But I guess that’s the way he is. Jason on the other hand it quite exuberant, He has a lust for life that no one can understand. He’s constantly hyper and jumping around, and usually excited about one thing or another. He’s quite into fashion, and he picks out all the costumes for the Concerts, and is always dressed quite well. His hair was up in a ponytail at the moment, his long red hair barley touched the back of his neck. The conversation was rather quite, small little jokes about Jason’s hair, but nothing more. Yuki was typing something up on his laptop. Jason was bugging to know what Yuki was writing, but every time he tried to look, Yuki would turn it around or hide the screen with his sleeve.
“Come on Yuki, Let me see!” Jason said as he whirled around in his seat again, grabbing for the laptop.
“Like I’m going to let you see it.”
“Come on, I’m your Best friend. Don’t I get some priority?”
“Nope.”
“Oh, Come on Yuki. Please!” His deep green eyes gave the Puppy dog look, but still, Yuki refused to let anyone see what he’s writing.
“Jayce.” Kyel spoke up for the first time since the car pulled out. “If Yuki doesn’t want anyone to read his Journal, that’s his purgative.”
“It’s a journal now, is it?” Jason’s voice got a bit of excitement in it. The thought that Yuki has something private, for his eyes only, intrigued him.
“And you’re not going to see it.”
“Fine, fine.” Jason said with a hint of disappointment. “I’ll find another way so sneak a peak then.”
“Good luck.” Dave said as he pulled into the parking spot of the College.
The boy’s piled out of the car, their bags in hand. Yuki had tucked his Laptop back inside his bag.
Walking up to the college was a short walk. Hundreds of students walked up to the school with baggage. Yuki was a little intimidated; He was not really good with cramped areas. The hallways were filled; you could barley walk in them. As they piled into the gymnasium, Yuki noticed a familiar face. The Principal of the college, Mr. Osphrie, Jason’s father. His short red hair flopped over to one side, wearing a very expensive black suit. Yuki scanned the crowed to see if he could find anymore-familiar faces. Over in the corner he sees Chris lock, he has honours in Math and computer technologies. Yuki got here for his honours in English and creative writing, Jason has a degree in Band, sound pathetic, but it’s true, his experience as a teacher for that class in remarkable. Dave has his History and Kyel has his Science. There is always a friend to help with something in the group.
“Welcome students of Altec High, to Valice. While you’re here you will be attending classes as usual. The rules here are quite strict compared to Altec. There are no Co-ed dorms, anyone violating this will be sent home immediately. Anyone out of their dorms past curfew, will also, be sent home. Anyone skipping classes will be automatically be suspended and whatever their honour’s are will be stripped. On to some of the courses, Physical Education is not required, but there are some extra courses besides the normal, football, American Football, basketball and volleyball. We have instated some new course, including many styles of Karate. We also have Honours English, advanced Creative writing, Honours Science, Alchemy, Computer programming, Honours History, Honours math. You will be able to sign up for the classes in two hours, These pieces of paper, have your name and dorm room on it. You will come up to the front and continue on to your dorm rooms. Do not rush, you have plenty of time.” He paused.
He beamed at the students to see if any were not paying attention. “I will call up those with the highest honours to go first, the rest of you, please be patient. Yuki Akari, Christopher Lock. Come up here, please. Jason Osphrie, David Myrkeye, Kyel Ekkehardt, Chase Wolf, Janice Darwin, and Karalyn White. That will be all.”
Yuki and Jason worked their way from the back of the Gym up to the front. Yuki found his name right away, right next to His red-haired friends in Dorm 25-C on the third floor.
When he got there, Yuki was handed his key by one of the Teachers stationed on the floor. After jiggling with the key for a bit, he finally got it open. Two beds set up across from each other, with a window in between them, A small little dresser near the door on the right, and the closet across from it to the left. The closet doors are plated with Mirror. The reflection of the dresser could be seen through it.
Jason put his bags down on the floor by the bed on the left. Yuki placed his bags on the floor across from Jayce, and sat down on the bed.
“So, Yuki, glad to be away from home?”
“You know my mother, I’d like to stay away from home if I can.”
“That’s true. So, what are you going to do now that you’re here?”
“I don’t know, enjoy it while I can.”
“I’m thinking of asking Mr. Colthrope if we can set up a concert or something like that. I know of one other band that is here, that might be interested. If we can get a few more to play, we can probably set it up.”
“Sounds good. You do the set up, I do the fliers.”
“That works. Perfect. I’m going to go talk to him now.”
“Alright, Have fun.”
Jason got up and left the room, leaving Yuki alone with his laptop. The green haired teen pulled it out of the bag and began typing again.
After the two hours time, It was time to sign up for classes. Jason still hadn’t come back from the band room, so Yuki went down to the gym. It was crowded as he expected. It was full of people talking loudly; he couldn’t hear what the classes were for as the teachers called it out.
This is the one time that Yuki willingly used his power. As he focused on one of the teachers, however, everyone seemed to stop. People seemed to be in frozen in a type of suspended animation. All except for him, and one other. A young man, dark black hair, and the deepest sapphire eyes, He’s seen those eyes once before. In a strange vision he had had a few weeks ago. The meaning of it he has not found yet, and it is this of which he writes.
The green haired boy, sifted through the frozen crowed. Towards the Black-haired young man, over by the Karate course sign up. Yuki figured that he might as well sign up for his classes now, while people couldn’t push him over. He had just finished signing up for his Creative writing class when the black-haired boy spotted him.
“How is it that you’re moving?” He inquired.
“I don’t know.” Yuki simply stated as if this was normal. He’s come to expect anything un-natural.
The black haired boy eyed him curiously.
“See anything you like?” Yuki replied with a rather sarcastic tone, flushing a bit.
‘Wow, he’s still cocky…' The black haired boy thought to himself.
“Still? I just met you.”
‘He doesn’t remember.’ “Sorry, I’ll leave you alone.”
“Okay.”
“Bye Yuki.” The boy said as he turned around and left. The people surrounding him started moving again.
The green haired boy stood there puzzled. ‘How does he know my name?’ He shook off that weird feeling and proceeded to his dorm room.
Jason still hadn’t returned. Yuki picked up his laptop and wrote more to his journal. An hour went by and no sign of Jayce yet. Yuki was getting a little worried until he felt Jayce’s presence. Jason walked in the door; his hair was now down, and a bit messy.
“So, where have you been?”
“I went to the band room, like I said, Mr. C said if I can arrange it. He’ll do it.”
“Was that… All?”
“Yeah.”
“You sure about that?”
“Okay, that wasn’t it.” Jason paused. “I ran into someone.”
“Someone…?”
“Yeah, Someone.”
“Do I need to probe your mind to find out who this someone is? Or are you going to tell me willingly?”
“Okay, His name is Chris, but please, keep it a secret.”
“Ah, the Computer Tech. Didn’t think you were into people like that.”
“Would you keep it down, you know how my dad is.”
“Alright, Alright.” Yuki smiled, he loved watching Jason squirm.
“Maybe I should set it up so you and Chris switch rooms eh?” Jason retorted.
“Sick of me already are we?”
“Just a suggestion. You’ll probably get sick of me within a week.”
“That, I don’t doubt.”
