Tuesday, May 15, it was sunny. I had a cherry blossom viewing with my club mate at Hokkaido University. We went to there after school. We had a club activity  yesterday at there as usual, and on our way to the home, we noticed there are  beautiful cherry blossom trees near the university hospital. Therefore, we  decided to make a small party.

My  friend brought a delicious chocolate cake and I brought ice earl gray tea. We  made them by ourselves. The most popular kind, somei-yoshino had already  scattered, but double cherry blossoms and drooping cherry blossoms were still full bloom. We sat and look pretty flowers while had a nice teatime.

After teatime, we went for a walk. Although I usually go to Hokkaido  University, I scarcely had been to so many places except for kendo hall and  medical school's building. I fully realized again the size of there and various  sort of plants and creatures are there. Not only cherry blossoms but also other  flowers are beautiful, for example, azalea, magnolia, rengyo (I don't know it's  English name), and so on.

At  the pond near the engineering department, we found a couple of wild duck and  their children. The little 8 baby birds were very lovely. According to the man  who was there, they were born at this morning. He also told us two more couples  are still warming their eggs. The eggs will be hatched soon, and then each  parent will be aggressive and fight to guard their children and territory. I  can't believe his words easily, because they looked tame. However, at just time,  another couples flied and land on the water. Then, the father warned and  attacked male wild duck. It drove them away finally. We were surprised. I wish  the baby birds would grow up safely.

We went to see the famous rows of poplars that discussed whether cut them down or  not. Despite I was born in Sapporo, I had never seen them until that time. They  were more tall and large than I expected. At first sight, they were not seems to  so dangerous. If it possible, I want to leave them as it is. It is wasteful to  cut such a splendid trees. My friend agreed with me.

It  was very nice hiking. We could enjoy the nature without going suburb. I'm  feeling a pleasant tiring. I'm going to go to bed early tonight.
