When Rei first appeared, she sensed the presence of evil near by. Rei was found to have special psychic powers and she was able to detect the enemy. She was also able to have visions that were usually warnings of evil omens. As a shinto priestess, she takes her responsabilities very seriously. Especially with her grandfather who owns Hikawa Jinja.

Rei dated Mamoru (Darien) for a while. She thought that he looked a lot like Tuxedo Kamen, a thought that Usagi didn't like at all. Later on when they find out that Usagi and Mamoru were ment to be together like in their past, Rei backed away quietly. Hurt, Rei was actually serious about Mamoru. She even snapped at Usagi when Usagi tried pairing Yuuichirou (Chad) and Rei together. Rei later formed a secret crush for Yuuichirou, and she kissed him twice.
