My second 51.5km race:) I feel fairly well trained, and ready.
I even have time to snap a few photos unlike Ohshima!

- Race day -
I thought I was mentally prepared. But as the race neared, I felt nervous that I was too feeling too confident. It was cloudy and windy-bad combo. Prone to pulling a muscle definitely so I was extra careful to stretch and warm up. The body-marking girl made some snipe comment about how I don't look like a triathalete. Thanks-is that a compliment?
SWIM- The course looked a lot longer than Izu. I wasn't prepared to swim all in one wave-lots of shoving in the water that I was a bit hesitant at first but then after 5minutes, I realized I wasn't even at the first mark, I better get going! After the first lap I felt loads of energy still. Hmm should I pace up and risk pulling a muscle or slow&finish..the later..I was psyched to have been able to keep good form the whole way through unlike Izu where I probably looked like a drowning whale.
Speaking of animals..Since it was a port, the water was nasty. It was dirty-probably negative visibility. God, I never wanna feel like an endangered specie coming out of the stank filled water again...
BIKE-Transition onto the bike was horrible. My race number flew off and I had to chase after it, then my safety pin broke..I took a few minutes washing off the stank on my body from the water...yuck. The course was not at all easy as I had anticipated. It was windy and I couldn't maintain 20km/h. I saw a guy wiped out so I was careful not to lose sight of the ditches. I kept visualizing all the spinning sessions and how to keep my pace. I was able to pass 3 people and it was soo nice to say "passing on your right!" for once! The way back was awesome-all I thought about was pedalling in time so that I would finish before the wind changed direction. I forced myself to maintain 35km/h but totally regretted that I had slacked on my bike training.
RUN-My legs are feelin' alright, and I'm not at all tired like Izu. I kept asking myself "Why are u running so slow? What are you saving this energy for?" but I couldn't motivate myself to go any faster-It was getting chilly and I saw a few people limping. I only have 10K to go, no way do I wanna pull my muscle and retire. The course smelled horrible-understatement-more like a portapotty- I swore I will never enter this race again in the future. Next year I will enter the race at Sado instead! Last 500m, Yuki and Yupi ran alongside of me and cheered me on. I still had energy to joke around as I was running which probably means I should have pushed myself more- Next race. I thought I did better than I actually did but it doesn't matter-All I wanted was confirmation that I can finish another 51.5km and it's not a miracle:)
