The Governement Hospital located south of Nathon is the place to go if you have some medical problem during your stay in the area. You will found reliable and impartial help here. If your condition requires it and you need some specialized care that they could not provide they will advice your evacuation to Surat Thani or Bangkok. But the Hospital is currently well equipped and can take care of mostly all emergencies arising during your stay.
Koh Samui is a safe place, but the road is very, very dangerous. Overspeeding overloaded trucks, holes, narrow bridges, falling coconuts, aborigines driving cars and motorbikes, cars parking on the road , malfunctioning traffic lights, construction materials abandoned in the middle of the road etc, made the roads in Koh samui very dangerous for someone used to a more controlled flow of traffic. Remember to be very, very cautious. Give way to everything. Exercise your awareness.
