Takeshi is the leader of the Night Kids and is often called "Black Lightning." Technically, he is the fastest downhill driver of Myougi, but other people have different opinions. Even though Takeshi drives the best car in the first season, he has poor concentration and starts to panic when someone is tailgating him during a race. He loses more concentration when he is passed and all he thinks about is passing his opponent without thinking about his technique. When this happens, Takeshi tends to wear out his tires because he practices grip driving: hard brakes, hard gas; this causes the front of his car to put a lot of pressure on his front tires. The front tires begin to wear out and lose their grip. Whenever he loses, he loses confidence in himself and his next race is even more disastrous.
When he sees Takumi race, he is determined to beat him and become the fastest in the Gunma area. He also wants to beat the Red Suns because he thinks the whole team is a bunch of arrogant racers. Overall, Takeshi is not a bad guy. He tries hard, but he keeps on losing and I feel sorry for him. |
