Backround Story:
Two groups of kids meet in the mall one night. Cassie and Rachel in one group, Jake and Marco in another. Tobias had just met up with the other guys and decided to walk home with them. The two groups decide to make one group walking home together.
They decide to take a shortcut through an abandoned construction site, and hope that there aren't any ax murderers around. It's not the ax murderers who get them. As alien spaceship crash-lands near them, and they meet the mortally wounded alien who staggers out.
He tells them that his name is Elfangor-Shrinial-Shamtul, and that he is one of the two races battling up in orbit above earth. He tells them about the other species. Yeerks.
The Yeerks are a parasitic race that crawl into your head through your ear, wrap themselves around your brain, and assume complete control over you, body and mind. You are then known as a '?-controller' (i.e. a human controlled by a yeerk would be a human-controller), but the Yeerks just refer to them as 'host's.
The Yeerks already control three entire species. The Gedds, the Hork-Bajir, and the Taxxons. The Taxxon species agreed un masse to be infested. The Andalites fight the Yeerks across the universe.
He then gives them the power to 'morph', to absorb the DNA of any animal that they can touch (acquire), and to change the DNA in their bodies to that of the animal. Hence, Ani(mal)morph(er). He warns them that if they stay in morph for over two hours, then they will be trapped forever in morph, never able to return to their human bodies.
He warns them that the Visser is coming, and that they should run and hide. They follow his instructions, and see their enemy. Visser 3. He is the only Yeerk with an Andalite host body, and the ability to morph. A Visser is like a warlord. At the top of the Yeerk empire is the Council of Thirteen, then the Vissers, Sub-Vissers and so on. The Vissers rank is numeric, starting at 1, and decending to 47.
They know their enemy, and they have their weapon. The rest is up to them.
