If LOTR was Star Wars

Author's note: Just a humorous poem I wrote for fun. I never actually realised how many parallels one can find in Star Wars and Lord of the Rings...

If Frodo was Luke Skywalker,

Hero of the saga;

Eowyn might be his twin,

The beautiful Princess Leia.

If Sauron was Darth Sidious,

Evil, cruel Emperor;

Orcs might be Sith Lords,

Servants of the Dark side ruler.

If Beleriand was Alderaan,

Lost because of evil;

The Shire would be Endor,

Untouched by outside people.

If the Wizards were the Jedi,

Wise and gifted with special power;

Elves might then be Alderaanians,

People of peace, beauty and culture.

If Gandalf was Obi-Wan,

To a dark power did he ‘fall’;

Then Galadriel might be Yoda,

Wisest and oldest of all.

If Caradhras was planet Hoth,

A cold, forbidding place;

Hobbits might be Ewoks,

A cute, courageous race.

If Boromir was Anakin,

Redeemed before his end;

Elrond might be Mace Windu,

Yoda’s wise colleague and friend.

Two tales so different, yet in some ways parallel,

One in the past and the other in the future;

Each in its own way unique and cool,

Both very much a part of our modern day culture.
