In the streets of a smal german town there walked a girl who felt like crying, but not only because of the rainy day, her boyfriend which she really loved had just broken up with her., because he couldn't help her with her problems.
The girl was named joyce and her mum had just died and instaid of helping her her father always beet her up because she didn't listen. Because of this Joyce had turned from a happy girl in one that verry quiet and shy . She had no friends and she felt all alone especcialy on a day like today.

She had just finished school and was walking home thinking a lot when she heard music. Normally she would just walk on by but this band was singing music she had to listnen too and so she stopped.
It was a family singing with lots of children which looked very strange because they all had long hair and strange clothes on. They looked nice and a happy family and Joyce felt a bit jealous. The next song was sung by a boy she thought to be about her age and he smiled at her because she was the only person listening that day (it was raining remember) he sang a song called "hey mister big time" and it sounded great after this a girl came and sang "crisis" wich made Joyce think about her problems again and she started to cry a little. She knew she had to go home to watch her little sister but she was so into the music she couldn't leave but after an hour she felt a big hand on her shoulder and she knew who it was slowly she turned around and her father immidiatly slapped her in the face and started to yell at her .
Behind her the music had stopped and the musicians where looking shocked the boy from her age and his brother who looked the same came off stage and asked her father why he had hit her….. thats none off your businnes you bumm!!! He yelled angrily and shoved him away "hey take it easy" the boy said "i was only trying to help" "she doesn't need your help, I'm her father and i know wats good for her !!" "hiiting somebody is never good " the boy replied and as an answer the father hit him "father !!!" Joyce said shoked when she saw the boy lying on the ground and she ran towards him "are you ok ?" she asked the boy "yes" the boy said and smiled at her "are you??" but before she could reply her father pulled her away. "what's your name ?" the boy cried "i'm joey" but Joyce couldn't replie because she was pulled down the street and jelled at by her father.
At home she was beaten around some more but she didn't mind because she was thinking of joey.

The next day after school she walked down the same street hoping to see Joey and his family but she didn't hear any music and a bit disapointed she walked home. But half way down the street she felt a hond on her shoulder and immidiatly she winced and pulled away just out of habit. "sorry" she heard an fermiliar voice say behind her "I didn't want to scare you" Joyce turned around and looked in the most beutiful bleu eyes she had ever seen.. …. "are you ok " joey asked "yes" Joyce replied shyly and smiled a bit . Joyce saw his bruised jaw and that reminded her off reality and immidiatly her smile disapeared and she said "I have to go home" "but why, i don't even know your name" "I'm Joyce" she said rapidly and run away when she thougt she had lost him she stopped to catch her breath but there he was again he had followed her. "leave me alone !" she yelled and she started to cry but instead of leaving her he put his arms around her and held her gently and said "tell me " and so she told all of her problems because she felt strangly safe with him. During the story the walked home but she knew she was late "you have to leave know joey" she said "i think he's home" "no i want to protect you" "you can't protect me, don't you understand? He will only hit me harder when he sees you." Joey looked puzzled he wanted to do something but he knew he couldn't "please go" Joyce said and pushed him away because she heard her father come down the stairs but it was to late .
The door was opened and her father looked verry angry to Joyce because she was late and then he saw Joey . "what is this bumm doing here " he jelled to Joyce "nothing" she replied softly "we will see about that" he shouted and lifted his arm to hit Joey who was standing there looking scared "noooo!" Joyce jelled while she pushed joey away and got hit herself. "you stupid girl" her father jelled i can hit anyone i want especially bumms like him "no i wont let you " Joyce said looking straight in to her fathers eyes. "oh no? Well we will see about that"and he tried to hit joey again but Joyce pushed joey and jelled "run joey run!!!! He will kill you" and so joey who was still looking shocked run away.
Imidiatly the father started to hit Joyce again and again because he was very mad. He had never hit her as hard as today and he kept on hitting her till she fell on the ground bleeding then he stopped and left her there. One of the neigbours who had seen it happen called an ambulance.

In the meantime Joey had stopped running and felt realy woried because he had left her and decided to return when he got back he saw an ambulance comming into the street. He saw Joyce lying there "nooo!" he jelled as he run towards her "I should not have left you " he cried when he neeled besides her and started to cry. The ambulance took them both to the hospital and Joey kept on talking to her and stroking her hair. At the hospital he realised that his family would be worried by now so he called them. They came to the hospital and he had to tell them everything.
His whole family was chocked and wanted to help so they decided to wait for joyce to wake up. At this moment a docter came out of Joyce's room papa kelly went strait to him and asked how the girl was doing. "are you the father?" "no" pappa kelly said honestly "well are you family" "no" the doctor looked surprised and then papa kelly tried to explain. The doctor looked shocked and said "well we will have to contact the right othorities but we will do that when she is better, she issn't doing that good she is in a coma you see and the next few hours are critical" "i understand, can we see her now?" ˙es but not all off you" he said looking at the big family which was sitting in the hall.
Off course joey went to Joyce and when he saw her lying in the hospitalbed looking like an angel he realised that he was in love although he had just met her.He grabbed a chair and sat next to the bed and started to talk to her "hi Joyce it's me joey… i will never leave you again i swear….. please come back to me" after about an hour he gave up and started crying. He walked to the window and looked outside after a few minutes he started to sing softly. All of a suden he heard a weak voice "joey……?" he turned around and smiled with tears in his eyes "hi joyce " he said and walked to her bed. He took her hand and smiled and then he said "i will never run away again" " yes you will, everybody does" she replied weakly before she fell a sleep again. Joey looked surprised and thought this girl has even more problems then i thought.
Then he called the docter and told his family wat she had said. "Joey " papa kelly said "i know you like this girl but we will have to leave this afternoon" "no " joey jelled "i can't , i have to protect her, can't you see ?" "you can't joey it's none off your bissenus…… we will go to the buss now to eat are you comming??" "no i'm staying here" joey said " we will pick you up when we leave" after this his family left and he was all alone and thinking about what to do after a short time the doctor came out off the room and said " are you joey?? She asked for you"
joey walked in the room immidiatly and sat down on the chair again and smiled at joyce but Joyce was crying and said " I knew it you will have to leave….. you're just like everybody else" joey looked shocked at her she wasn't supposed to know ! there was a long silence and then just as joey was about to say something the doctor walked in followed by a cop " hi joyce" the doctor said "this man want's to talk with you" joyce and the cop witch introduced himself as rick shook hands while joey walked to the window again so the two could talk " Joyce " rick said" you know that when youre better you can't go to your father anymore" joyce shook her head slowly she understood " but what about my little sister? She is only seven i have to take care of her" "that is very responsible off you do you have any family who can take care of you?" at this time joyce almost started to cry " no " she replied "my mum died last year and i don't know any off my relatives ……… you are going to split us up arren't you ? and put us in fosterhomes?" "no " rick said " offcourse whe are going to try to keep you two together but you must understand that the chance of both of you getting addopted are very slim" " i know and i'm almost fifteen nobody would want to adopt me they want smal children……." At htis time joey who was stil at the window decided something and sudenly left the room rick looked surprised but joyce said " i know he would leave they all do"

In the meantime joey ran to the telephone and called his father "papa" he said " i have the perfect solution! " calm down joey " papa said " tell me slowly" joey took some deep braethes and said " well you know you always wanted 15 children ?" "eh yes but what do you mean? " Papa was very surprised what was joey talking about??!!! "well joyce and her little sister have to leave their home because off ther father?…. can't we adopt them ?" "WHAT!!!!!!" and father started to laugh " are you crazy???" "no for once in my life i'm not i'm dead serieos" joey replied papa stopped laughing " you are arren't you……. Is this girl so important to you??" "yes" replied joey strongly " let me think about it and discus it with the rest off the family, we will pick you up in an hour and then we will know" "ok" joey put down the phone and slowly walked back to joyces room.
When he came back rick had left and joyce looked surprised because he had returned "you're back??" she said "off course" he said and walked to her bed and joyce thought maybe he is different jus maybe….. but then she rememberd that he would leave this afternoon but she negleckted that thought and decided to be strong. She smiled at him and joey had never seen her smile and thought it was the most beutiful smile he had ever seen. He and joyce started talking about life and in that hour he managed to see that beautiful smile again a few times, and he knew he was happy. The hour flew by and al of a sudden joyce's little sister ran in with maite and they immidiatly climbed on the hospital bed Joyce was very surprised about this but joey had gotten a big smile on his face because he knew what this ment and then the rest off the family walked in. Joyce's eyes got bigger and bigger as did joeys smile he stood up and walked towards his father who just nodded and said " It's ok joseph" at this time joey started to cry and hugged his father than he turned around and said "surprise joyce" joyce thought well know they are going to leave …… and hugged her liitle sister " you are gonna leave now arren't you?" "yes we are" said joey still with a big smile on his face "can i ask you some questions?"papa kelly asked "off course" said joyce surprised. "well…. Can you sing dance or play an instrument?" " I can play guitar a bit and the violin but i haven't done it for a long time because my father sold them and about the singing wel i can try but why???" was the reply from joyche who was getting more surprised by the minute because she couldn't figure out why he was asking her these questions " do you like to travel, do you like children" papa went on "yes…." "well joey i think you're right she does fit into the family and so does her sister" her sister was playing with maite and paddy on the bed "we can try what do you think children" al the kelly children started to speak at once saing yes ,off course, well we can try and so on At this time Joyce was looking chocked wat were they talking about?????? She looked puzzled to joey and he said "would you like to come with us??? And sing on the streets?" "WHAT?! That would be wunderfull are you serieos???" "yes" joyce smiled at him and they huged eich other. She could leave her father and this town and her old life behind and she started to cry but this time it were happy tears……

After this she was introduced to the whole family and she tried to remember al of their names. She liked them and they seemed nice especially a girl named Patricia who was a little bit older than her and Jimmy a boy she thought to be joey's twin at first when she had seen them in the street. When the introductions where over papa said they had to leave because they were already late. Joey and Jimmy helped to carry Joyce to the bus because she was still weak and couldn't walk. In the buss the little ones had to go to sleep but the rest stayed up and talked and Joyce got the chance to get to know them a little bit better. Soon Joyce felt a bit tired and said that she wanted to go to bed Patricia said she would join her and that she could shair her bed if she wanted to because there were not enough beds Joyce said that she would like it and they walked to the front of the bus. Now Joyce suddenly realised that she had brought nothing with her to sleep in and she said softly "patricia?' patricia turned around "whats up???" "whel i have nothing with me to sleep in " patricia smiled to her "that's is right we will have to solve this problem" and she walked to the back off the bus where only joey was sitting because the rest had gone to bed he was softly playing his guitar and patricia realised that she had never heurd this song before "hi joey is that a new song ?" joey stopped playing and went red like a tomatoe "yes" he said while he was looking to the ground patricia looked surprised she had never seen her little brother act this way and she went to sit next to him " what's wrong?" she asked "nothing" he replied weakly at htis time Joyce arrived to see why patricia had took so long and suddenly patricia knew why her brother acted the way he did he was in love !!! "joey can i borrow one of youre t-shirts ??" patricia asked" for joyce to sleep in" "sure" and he stood up quicly and walked to his bed to get it. when he got back he gave it to joyce and he looked in to her eyes " here you go, sleep tight" he said " thank you" and then joyce walked away fast and patricia thought ; how strange …… joey looked dissapointed and walked to his bed. Patricia stayed to think ; why had she walked away so fast?? She couldn't figure it out and went to bed.

The next morning when patricia woke up the next morning she saw that Joyce had already left and that the had reached their next destination. She got out off bed and went for breakfast there she found joey who was up quite early wich surprised her she saw joyce in front of the bus playing with paddy and maite. When she sat down she saw that joey had also seen joyce and he was looking at her. "you like her don't you joey? "patricia asked while she was making a sandwich "yes but she keeps on pushing me away" he said with a sad look on his face and patricia didn't know wat to say because she didn't know joyce that good. At this moment jimmy passed them and went outside both joey and patricia looked surprised when he went straight towards joyce. They talked for a bit and both laughed and then jimmy suddenly put his arms around joyce ….. it was ment as a friendly thing but joey who was stil looking thought otherwise as he suddelny left the table grabbed his guitar and ran outside. Patricia who had seen this happen ran outside to and wanted to follow him but instead she walked to joyce and said "can i talk with you for a moment??" joyce first looked a bit surprised but she saw that patricia was serieos ""yeah sure, see you later jimmy" and then she followed patricia
"what do you think off joey?" patricia asked directly "he is special" said joyce while she looked away a bit shy " why do you keep pushing him away then??" " because he's special !" she shouted and turned around planning to walk away but patricia stopped her "I don't understand please try to explain" joyce sat down on a treestump and started thinking while patricia sat down besides her " it's quite difficult to explain…. But i will try " she took a deep breath " you see i realy like joey but i think he deserves beter than me……. I'm not special and i have a lot of problems now" she almost started to cry " i can't expect anyone to help me i did before and they all left me like my boyfriend he left me because it was to much" now she couldn't keep the tears away and patricia didn't now wat to say so she just put her arms around her and tried to comfert her after a little time joyce stopped crying and continiud with her story they talked for hours and became realy good friends Patricia understood a little bit better how joyce felt she did like joey but she was scared to be dissapointed again because that had happened to her a lot but she also knew that joey would never do that to her and she tried to explain that to joyce.
suddenly jimmy appeared and said "oh here you are thank god i finally found you !! papa is realy mad at you we are going to perform in a few minutes and half of the family has disapeared" the girls just laughed and walked with jimmy who was still talking " whe had to build the whole stage me and john and even barby had yo help because joey has still not come back" both of the girls had to laugh because jimmy was talking so fast "hey that's not funny!!!" but this only made the girls laugh louder.
When they got to the stage they saw that joey had still not come back and because Joyce didn't have to sing because she didn't know all the songs she decided to look for joey because she was a little worried. She walked away and behind her she could here the family sing wich made her smile at first she couldn't find him but wen she had walked for a long time she came to a little forest wich looked beautiful and the she heard soft guitar music and when she came closer she saw it was joey. The song he was singing sounded beautifull but sad at the same time and joey looked verry dreamy singing it he didn't even notice joyce who was looking at him. After the song had finished joyce stepped forward and scared the hell out off joey who jumped up. Joyce had to laugh at this because it looked so funny and after joey realized how he must looked he started laughing too. "how long have you been standing there " joey asked "not that long i heard your song.... it was bautifull" at this joey turned red "I wrote it for you" he said softly " you did? nobody has done that for me before" and now joyce became red also. they looked at each other a bit shy "why are you here ?" joey suddenly asked " well you missed your gig" "what!"he looked at his watch "shitt you're right" "it doesn't matter, i have to talk to you anyway joey" they both sat down "why did you run off this morning??" joyce started " i needed to be alone" "oh...." joyce had something else to ask him but she didn't know how to start and she just stared to her feet instaed. It became quiet they both didn't know wat to say " do you like jimmy??" joey asked "yes he's nice" joyce said a bit surprised and now joey looked verry disapointed "why do you want to know?" it became quiet again. " I knew this wasn't going to work" said joyce and she suddenly got up and left, but joey ran after her and stopped her by pulling her arm a bit "why do you keep running away!" he said a bit angry as he pulled her in his arms. they looked at each other and they could see the pain in each others eyes. they stood there for a few moments looking in each others eyes when suddenly joey kissed her, but not like she was jused to, no it was wonderfull really soft and tender. She had never felt like this.....her whole world started spinning and she felt wierd inside but it was a really nice feeling.
When they stopped kissing Joey looked away a bit ashamed " sorry , i shouldn't have done that..... i just felt......i hoped that ... well sorry" " but i didn't mind joey"said joyce "are you sure" " yes for the first time in jears" and she smiled at him. Joey looked up right in to her eyes and joyces world began to tumble again and now she decided to kiss him. they kept on doing this for a little wile both feeling hapier then they had been for a long time. Then they sat down again and joyce leaned against him while he held her as if he was afraid of loosing her and they started talking again "why did you ask me about jimmy??" "wel i watched you this morning and he was acting realy friendly to you... and i know how he is with girls they always like him better.. well basicly i was jelous" when he had said this they both started to laugh " don't worry i like you best"and she gave him a little kiss " i like him as a friend" " do you like my family?" he continiud " yes especially patricia... we talked to each other this afternoon. You should thank her" now joey looked surprised " but why??" "she convinced me that it was ok to like you" now joey looked even more surprised and joyce started telling about why she had pushed him away and joey had to laugh about this. After she had told her story again they realised it was almost dark. "whe have to go back before they get worried " joyce said " before we miss diner you mean man am i hungry!" they laughed and walked back holding hands.

When they got back at the buss everybody looked surprised except patricia. Papa looked verry mad at first but when he heard the story he just laughed and said that it was ok.
