This year the school adventure has been the biggest challenge for Bethel these months; waking up early in the morning, preparing for school, doing homework. . . Aunty I need 12 notebooks, pencils, pencil sharpener, notebook. . . and good quality, Ah! And a schoolbag. . . I need it right now Aunty!! And a week later they no longer have notebooks. . . we don't know where they learned to make airplanes and ships; what a chaos. . . thanks to God the fashion of making airplanes and ships has passed, and have learned to value and to take care of the school utilities.

With sadness we tell you that of the 18 children that entered to the Institution at the beginning of this year, 5 have left; their families took the decision of taking them back. The work with the parents has begun, we have had several trainings, a lot of interest is found in some of them.

Most of the children have taken big steps to enter the normal process, it has not been easy; but with the help of God they have been able to achieve it. One is working the phisical dimension and aesthetics in the children, strengthening abilities and dexterities in the field of the sport and arts; discovering talents in the handiworks with clay and painting.

Jonathan Puerta, is validating and he is in fifth grade, he is the best in the group, God is shining in a wonderful way in his life.

 

Camilo Viloria, in fifth grade was named person of the School and his work is to look after the well-being of the Educational Community, one of the projects is to gather groceries to distribute to the poor families of the school.

In the Formative Process of the Program, a group of adolescents is enjoying a series of workshops, where they analyze their future and what is the perspective of their life.  What do they want to do and how will they achieve their goals? We have begun with eight of them, the understanding of occupational, labor therapy and the respective learning in Institutions as El SENA and Alternative Programs of Informatica and English, to facilitate work tools.

Mi primera nieta de visita

Very good was the qualification with which the girls finished their first academic period. The girl Natalia Andrea, decided April 9, to return to her family; nine months of process that we trust God, were she will give fruit, although it is not in our hands. 

Norms and schedules are completed voluntarily and most of the time with a lot of cordiality, since no difficulty delays for the grace of God.  

We were blessed by the Swedish youth whom also experienced the challenge of serving God with us.  They are: Helen Ohgren, Karin Andersson, Helga Therese and Robert Tornkvizt.  We also give thanks to God, for the technician and professional photographer that it is among us, Daniel Huisman.We congratulate for their birthdays; Sandra Velásquez, Diana Sepúlveda, Saidy Manco, Elvia Rodelo and Alba Oviedo.

Our biggest yearning is to continue working in a personalized and complete discipleship and in daily sharing with each one of them; We can make known the love and the character of God which helps us to continue developing a sense of value and good principles.

I want to give thanks to God for His provision in each of the things that He has provided us with as much physicaly as spiritualy. For this work it is very important to have the support and the help of people that are willing to give and to work for God.

In total we left Medellín with 13 people. The first week we divided ourselves in two teams, into two villages, Angostura and Campamento. Angostura a strongly religious village and Campamento a village hit by violence. 

During those days we learned a lot, while seeing the hand of God in each situation, looking for His strategies, listening to His voice, for not acting in our own strenght. 

Then we left for "Jardin", a very nice town, that fits its name, because everywhere we went we found houses adorned with pretty flowers. 

Since we arrived, it was encouraging knowing that the Parish priest of the town had signed a letter which enabled us to be able to work with the students in several schools, giving lessons focused on sexuality.  For this we used a very useful video that is called "sex, lies and truth". We made contact with at least five hundred students (among children, adolescents and youths), enjoying course for course, and this only speaking of four schools. 

In a prayer time we had as a group, several of us received a word from God, that He was with us and that we would see His glory.  Literally it has been this way; doors have opened up, opportunities have been given, for example; we got airtime of one hour on a radio station to give a teaching about interpersonal relationships, and what God thinks in this respect, specific words have been shared for the problem that each youth is living, and the teaching about the sexuality have been a connection to be able to share the purpose of God for each human being. 

What do you think? . . . God is Good, right?, and the more we serve Him, the more we realize how much there is to do.

God through time has used the scientific and technological advances for the expansion of His Kingdom; Printing,  Ships, Airplanes, Computer, Internet,  Television and the Telephone, are some of the most important examples. 

And now God has allowed us to use videoconferencing to speedup the missionary training.   This system allows us to connect to more than two classes to interact with as if we were in the same place, this way we can have classes, times of intercession, praise and worship and sharing ideas together, no matter in which continent each group is. 

For us as YWAM Medellín it was very difficult to think of having this ministry, because the costs of equipment is high, but last January we received the news that somebody had donated us a basic set for videoconferencing. Until now we have already carried out several conferences, we had a meeting with Barbados with the international director of GENESIS, we also had a connection of two hours with the base of YWAM Amsterdam for a multi cultural meeting and we also listened to a conference of Loren Cunninghan from Buenos Aires Argentina.   

 

To achieve these objectives, we have a weekend camp every month where we teach them topics on the character of God, inner sanity, obedience and many others that help us to reach the previously mentioned goals.  We have also programmed different visits to poor neighborhoods of the city, days of neighborhood cleaning and evangelism.  

We have also had a seminar for the families of the King’s Kids and some meetings where we treated some of the most frequent problems and pray for them.  

Next month we will travel to Armenia, a city 6 hours from Medellín, there we will be for 10 days sharing in the streets, park and churches through choreographies.
