YWG-YYZ-YUL-YYZ-YWG Dec.28-29, 2001 |

Winnipeg-Toronto (Dec.28) This was the starting flight of a very exciting trip. I flew out nice and early on AC 188 from gate S at around 6:00am on runway 36. This flight was the fullest on all the trip and I ended up in seat 20B. We were late leaving because we had to be de-iced so we arrived in YYZ on runway 25R and taxied to T2 at around 9:35am. My plane for this leg was an A319 C-GAQL. We cruised at FL370. Toronto-Montreal (Dec. 29) This flight was suppose to be the second out of the day and a 767-200. But we later found out that they cancelled the first flight out of the day and downsized our 767-200 to a CRJ, overbooked by 9. That was a no-go. So we caught AC 3402 a 737-200 (transitional) C-GCPT out at 8:00am. I got seated in 13E and fell in and out of sleep on the short trip while cruising at FL330. And on a side note, while taxing out for departure I saw C-GAUN, The Gimili Glider, and I think if they hadn't downsized our original flight, I would have flown on that piece of history, but I'll hopefully get it another time. Montreal-Toronto (Dec. 29) This was the whole point on extending this trip to YUL. AC 409 was an A340!!!! Normaly an A320 operates this flight. This was my first 4 engines plane ride in my life. The reason they had an A340 on this route is becuase it had just came from the Air Canada maintanence hanger, all nice and fresh from maintanence just being repositioned to Toronto for a long flight. I got seat 36K on Air Canada's A340 C-GDVV. We departed 11:00am from gate 1D. After the flight, I got to go up and take a look at the flight deck, what a piece of work! And the other thing was that the Captain looked about 30 years old, while the 1st officer looked to be 40-50 years old. How cool! During the flight I recorded the takeoff, part of the cruise, and landing of the A340 on video. The reversers are so neat on the 340, like nothing I've ever seen up close. If you ever have a chance to get on an A340, DO IT! You wont be sorry. Toronto-Winnipeg (Dec. 29) After spending my last spotting time on top of the parking garage of T1 and watching an Air Canada 747 nearly suck in a baggage chain cart, I was ready to come home. I was onboard AC 195 that left at 5:05pm. It was an A319 C-FYKW and we cruised at FL350.It soon got dark outside and I fell asleep. About an hour later I woke up with my brother and Kyle Nordman wanting me to give my head set to the flight attendant. We soon landed in YWG and that concluded another great spotting trip. This trip was very good. I saw lots of planes yet missed the Star Alliance A340 and the Free Spirit 767-300ER. I stayed the night at the Sheraton, connected to T3 which had a great view of the Int'l gates of T3. |
