The Gorillaz, a group consisting of 4 cartoon characters, has just released their first album... and hopefully not their last... the idea is fun... real live people singing for cartoon characters... then they deny ever having anything to do with them... how do these cartoon characters deal with the scorn? but what makes the gorillaz even more fun is the music...

their first single, "Clint Eastwood" is an energetic song... has a catchy chorus and more importantly has my guy, del the funkee homosapien, doing the bulk of the lyrical work... the music is solid... it is all produced by Dan the Automator... er... some cartoon guy that looks like a fat albert casting couch cut...

but it isn't just the del fueled clint eastwood that is good... the whole album... with the exception of a few filler songs... is a joyous romp... did i say joyous romp? ugh... gay...

the only bad thing is that the gorillaz only utilize the undeniable talents of del on 2 songs... this guy needs to be on more projects that allow him to go nuts creatively... but if i hear him on a mountain dew commercial i'll go mad... madder than a diseased cow sitting in a puddle of mercury... so there...

when all is said and done, the gorillaz, is a solid project that makes you bounce and smile at the same time... bounce and smile... mmmmmmm...
