Giant demonic beast of Persian mythology that was a cross between a serpent and a two-headed dragon. It had the head of a cockerel and an evil temper. It later came to be identified with the Gnostics as an ejaculation for the unspeakable name of the Supreme Being. The seven letters in its name represented the seven creative powers, and its name in numerology adds up to three-hundred sixty-five, the number of days in a year. Also, the name "Abrasax" seems to have come from the word abracadabra, a magic spell said to be of great power. |
