of a group of Melanesian spirits with the upper bodies of
men and the lower bodies of fishes, with tails on its
feet, gills behind its head, a horn resembling a shark's
back fin, and a pike on its head resembling a swordfish.
They lived in the sun and traveled to earth by means of
rainbows. A sure sign of them would be rain on a sunny
day, and they often caused mischief. They attack humans
with flying fish, knocking them unconscious, and if this
state was not countered with stronger magic, death would
be sure. |
