	A giant of Greek mythology that was invincible as long as he remained in Pallene, where he was born. Hercules dragged him out of Pallene then slew him. In other acocunts, Alcyoneus was invincible to all weapons made by gods, so Athena summoned Hercules and induced him to destroy the giant. Hercules, who was still mortal at the time, bested the giant in battle.
