In Hindu mythology, a giant fire-breathing snake with a thousand heads rising up to form a canopy over Vishnu, who uses it as a mount. Ananta will destroy the world in the fifth Kalpa (period of time that is a day and a night to Brahma but lasts 4,320,000,000 years to mortals) and was used by the gods and Asuras to churn the ocean. It is also associated with Sesha, king of the Nagas. |
