Small,
generally friendly goblin that helps around the house with chores. It
tends to favor a member of the household over the others
and takes care to please that person. Brownies are
described with flat faces, pinhole noses, hairy features,
and generous smiles. They are generally invisible to all
except to children because of their innocence. If a brownie is mistreated, it will become a Boggart and plague the house. Also, they must be rewarded indirectly, for if directly rewarded, just like in the story of "The Elves and the Shoemaker," they will never be seen again. An example of an indirect award is to place a cake on the table that the brownie will "accidentally" come upon. |
