of Welsh legends who created a brew that, after having
been boiled for a year, would bestow the knowledge of the
past, present, and future to whoever drank it. A servant
boy of hers, Gwion Bach, accidentally dipped his finger
into the cauldron containing the brew and, before she
could react, sucked his finger to dry it off, drinking
the potion. Angry that he had received the knowledge of
the brew, she chased him and eventually caught up to him,
turning him into straw and herself into a chicken so that
she would eat him. Gwion Bach was later resurrected and
became the greatest sage of his time. |
