Small snake of Egypt that had two horns, one above each eye. It buries itself in the sand, moving its horns to attract birds as its prey. However, it is quite harmless to humans and proves quite useful. It perspires when coming upon lotion and protects its owner from the Evil Eye. In some accounts, it is identified with the asp and is said to have been the snake that Cleopatra used to kill herself. |
