Faint floating ball of bluish light seen hovering in swamps. Wills o' the Wisp were thought to be the souls of children that have died in the swamps they haunted, or the ghosts of stillborn babies. They liked to case mischief, often misguiding traverlers by leading them into such treacherous places as bogs and cliffs. Ignes Fatui are thought to be caused by a combination of gases from rotting organic matter in the swamps, and they were often associated with the Jack o' Lantern. |
