Rewind

If I could
turn back the hands of time
Bring back
the old address “primetime”
Broken
glass on the ground turns back into a window
Hopefully
now, God got the info
Blood on
the ground rushes back into his body
It travels to his head and all around the brain
Down to the chest and through his veins
As the blood rushes down all the way to his heart
It’s almost ready to pump but not yet to start
His car door un-crushes and his fender unbends
His tail lights are re-adjusted and he’s back to his sins
He is now all done and good to go
Now you and I will never know
Why he was parked on the shoulder in the middle of the night
Just for a CD that can’t be right
So now I stand and watch the whole thing again
It’s so hard I wish it never began
You could see them pull up on the shoulder
They weren’t thinking about anyone not even the older
They stopped the car just for a CD
You and I know that it just can’t be
As they got back in the car and ready to go
I can see him putting his hands on the wheel steady to roll
Out of nowhere there is a collision with my uncle’s car
BAM! You can see it, he came from real far
So drunk and missed up he was so lost
But for my uncle, he’s the one who had to pay the cost
As his soul slowly leaves his body
He takes his last breath feeling drowsy
So now it’s getting dark for him, I can tell by his eyes
I can see his friend pulling him out from where he lies
So I close his eyes and tell him good night
And that he’s gone to a better place tonight
