He grew up training himself in the martial arts as a way of disciplining his mind, and yet he never could control the beast within. This frustrated Talbain to no end. Finally, the young martial artist seeked council from a woman said to be involved in witchcraft, hoping that if the cure could not be found in a pill, then perhaps in a spellbook. The old witch told him that if he would surpass all his former limits, then and only then would he be truly cured. For this reason, Talbain entered the Darkstalkers' Tournament, held by Lord Demitri Maximov. Though he did not win, he more than doubled his strength and did surpass all limits. He stood by the sea as the tournament ended, hoping somehow that it would work. A change was coming over him! This is it! He was reborn as a human and would never forget this day for the rest of his life! Talbain sat alone by a window in his England mansion, a few years later, when he felt a strange urge come over him. "What is this blood-burning feeling? This cannot be true... the curse must have been expelled. I must have been reborn as a human!" But he was clearly still a werewolf: to his horror, the reflection of the beast looked back at him in the mirror. He dashed out the window, shattering it as he raced off in search of answers; in search of a cure. |
