Eventhough I am not a musician and I may play so badly but I love to learn any types of music instruments; I just love watching and hearing others playing as well. AND I am a collector.
I love buying music instrument (yang murah laa). Suba tinguk ini sampah sini . Saya kumpul saja bah itu. Now² ini, saya mau share my eagerness-to-kumpul & play with you all and diharapkan pasang-pasanglah telinga dan mata ketika pungit prektis dan berhibur-hati dan mencari alat music yang ada. Banyak inspirasi datang dari girlfriend yang baru dijumpai start tahun 1992 dan mulai itulah minat mengumpul datang. Sama² minat music bah ini. Ini cuma sharing-sharing bah. Mana tau lain hari, anak-anak kita ada baca ini journal.. trus ada semangat mau kumpul alat music juga... Guitar - 1977 I started learning guitar while I was in primary 2. Lagu febret saya masa tu konon-konon adalah My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean dalam chord D, cuma pakai 3 chords. Not till when I was in the college then only I learned to play classical style/reading notes. I could play a few pieces while I was in the college/uni tapi sikarang BUTUL-BUTUL lupa sudah. My favourute last time were La Maja De Goya, A'lhambra, Cavatina and a few others. I never owned a good classical guitar however I bought a Ramirez guitar from UK for my brother and he is still playing classical guitar till now. Haraga sampai RM4,000.00 itu. I can only play one or two classical piece nowdays. Mangkali suda tua bah ini . Jari jemari nda melentik sudah... otak pun sudah karat. Cuba tarai ini Sample 1. Pemain kegemaran? Suba tarai John william. Tapi kan ada jasa juga itu gitar ooo... Bikin mengurat bah dulu! I used to play Romance de'Amor for my gol-fren (wife la bah) dan tu laa salah satu yang telah memikat dia. And she loves that song 'Tarang Bulan! Harmonica - 1970s & 2002 I called this instrument as kudian mulut. Ini alat kedua yang saya main. I don't know how they play it in the blues style but I love listening to blues harmonica. I own 4 harmonicas; dua yang biasa (Lark!), one chromatic harmonica and a hohner harp. That hohner harp was a 2nd harmonica and I bought it for RM20.00. I am still looking for that small harmonica yg dipakai oleh koboi sana TV tu bah...Ada jual sini Sabah ka ? Sorry.. belum ada sample lagu. Nanti saya beli tu blues koboi baru saya bagik! Updated on 28/5/2002 Hi again! Yes! I did it! I've just bought 2 HOHNER harmonicas; Special 20 and Marine Band. Now I am learning to do tongue blocking and draw bending technique. Sabar-sabar saja yaa wahai peminat. Pic of my harmonicas. Updated on 1/11/2002 Alamak! Bankraplah ini macam... saya baru bili 2 biji lagi. Golden Melody dan Silver Star. Semua nya HOHNER! Sikarang ini masi blazar mau bingkuk lidah (draw bending) untuk tarik bunyi sarupa macam koboi! Recorder/Tin Whistle I still play recorder till now. It seems to be the easiest instrument to play with but to master it is not a small deal. Making vibrato for recorder is more (to me laa) difficult than to that of other wind instruments (flute,sax etc). Why? Coz it is very very easy to blow sampai gogor nda pandai kurual. I have 5 recorders in my collection. 2 soprano (Yamaha), 1 alto (Yamaha), 1 wooden soprano in G (Lark, made in China!) and a whistle (brass. Pic of my recorders. No audio sample thanks! Piano - 1993 I bought a piano at last! Keeeeehoiii! I OWN A PIANO!!! I had been dreaming to have a piano since I was a little boy. I even drew a piano key (to scale!) on a long piece of paper and angan² pisit pisit sana karatas. I had never got a chance to touch even a simple CASIO keyboard til I habis sikul. Kasihankan? Mula-mula (balik dari uni bah itu) saya blazar main melodian (neice punya) - my neice blazar itu benda sana sikul bah itu mangkali kerana dia pandai baca note sudah dat taim, then a couple of week later (after I knew how to play Rasa Sayang), I bought a YAMAHA PSR300. Ngam-ngam taim itu berjumpa girlfriend yang pandai sudah main piano (she loves romantic songs). Maka terguncanglah hati dan tercabarlah untuk belajar main. Tapi bulum puas hati sabab teda touch-response so I exchanged it with a PSR500 (dan tambah RM1,000.. hahaha.. YAMAHA kaut untung banyak!). A year later I bought my beloved NIER (China made lagi!) piano dan mula la saya blazar main chord. I play only by chord sabab kalau tinguk taugih, selow ini utak sama jari...Sampai satu tahun pun nda pandai main... Piano is my beloved instrument coz I could express myself thru it. Kalau sodih, saya main... kalau gumbira pun saya main.. kalau main² (?) pun saya main juga bahh... haiyaa..Tapi yg hairannya I can never compose a hymn using a piano. Most (99%) of my 80 hymns were done/assisted by my guitar. Mungkin lebih kreatif kalau pakai gitar bah kan... atau sudah tua mangkali bah ni sekarang kan? I love singing. Tu la guna tu piano mangkali. Siok menyanyi dan siok berfeeling. Dan I love accompanying my beloved wife whenever she feels to sing. She sings very well so nda juga sia-sia saya beli Piano kan? She plays piano better than I do! Sentimentel juga bah saya ini... Actually I prefer listening to classical piano tapi klang-kadang Risad Kledermen pun kena main juga sana keset player. alahaii...suba tarai ini Glorify The Lord - Bridge Over Trouble Water Saxophone - 1994 Hahahaa... wanna hear a story? Ini desperate punya story. I was attending my brother's wedding in Sarawak when this genius (coz he is super good in everything!) played his sax in his room/hostel. BTW his name is Eugine Suboh (dia pakar, dan memang very very talented in piano, sax, violin, trumpet etc etc etc... sampai pi perform ana luar negara). Kazen wife saya juga bah itu. I was so attracted to that sound that when I went back, I had a sleepless night thinking about it. The sound is really beautiful (mangkali orang dia yg pandai bah itu). That very next morning, I browsed through the yellow pages. I called several music shops and they all gave a > 3,000 price. Then I stumbled upon this shop in Tawau. He said his alto Jupiter was only RM1,500. I managed to persuade him to bring that sax to my rented house in KK and paid him there. How did I persuade him yaaa? I been so lucky I guess. He came all the way from Tawau just to sell me that..This is my sax or Pic2. Apa lagi yaa... O yaa.. sekali dapat itu sax, saya buka dan trus tiup. Tapi tiada bunyi ooo.. Then my bother told me that I might need a reed for it.. hahaha... sakay butul. Til now, I'm still learning to play it. I found it is difficult to progress coz I don't have anyone to assist me. Tapi nda juga mau pi belajar sana kedai.. biar laa MADE IN PUNGIT semua... Thanks to my wife kerana dia kasi kawan saya main... (main piano dia bah!). Kalu tidak, berkarat lah itu sax itu. Ada sample sini I am Coming Lord & Lord, Take Control of Me updated 25.2.2003 I've just bought a Maui Pocket Sax (Called Xaphoon). It is simple but produces bunyi macam sax juga. This is a synthetic version of the original bamboo sax. It uses a tenor reed. Very handy and tuned at C. Trumpet - 1996 Kasihannn... Actually I do own a trumpet. I bought a Lark (China made again!) trumpet for 300 saja.My Lark Trumpet. It is not a used trumpet! It was cheap coz it is not meant to be blown I guess. The brand is LARK again. I bought it for my collection only. I tried hard to blow tapi bunyi macam gajah beranak saja. Itu valve pun pandai sangkut². Sikit hari lagi.. I will get a gold-plated trumpet. I fell in love with the sound after my girlfriend (my wife laa) gave me a trumpet cassette by Nini Rosso. But actually-actually kan, both my uncles (Charles and Humprey Sakandar) play trumpet tau. Semenjak saya buka mata, I had been seeing them performing trumpet duet in the church. I can still remember their heavy Vibrato! AND i can still remember their song back in 1978?79?80?... Jesus, The Name so Sweet. I just love that song. Jaga-jaga yaa... I am aiming to get a good trumpet either this year 2002 or next year. (I will revise my homepage and change that year to 2003-2004 if I'm unable to get it by then!). Saya ada rekod beberapa lagu masa prektis using my Lark Trumpet tapi... bunyi macam tu balan-balan cari mangsa, jadi libi baik jangan masuk internet lah... bukan malu saja tapi nanti ramai yg terberanak! updated 14.10.2002 Keeeeeehoiiiii!!! I've got a new Bb Trumpet! Yahooo... Its a Jupiter. For RM900.00 I can not ask for one yg lagi best. But Its very new that saya sayang mau pakai... Yang benarnya, I find it is difficult to play trumpet. The old one is better! haha.. The new one, mau terkentut mau blow ooo... waaaaaaa... Never mind, give me 3 more years. I'll update my homepage in 3 years. Flute - 1996 Ini ada nasib punya ini. I bought an Armstrong (USA) flute from a dealer. (I bought that flute for my gol-fren bah tapi sampai sikarang dia nda mau tiup sabab dia sayang itu flute....) Yalaa a dealer tapi bukan yg ditayang² sana rual. It belonged to his wife. 2nd hand laa.. dia bilang bini beli frm USA in 80s.. tapi sampai sikalang nda pandai main... so he sold it to me for RM400.00. Good investment tau! No repair required tapi recently I changed a few pads. Have a look at my my beloved flute. (MADE IN PUNGIT juga bah.... pakai gabus botol atau kepala shuttle beminton!). Tapi kan.. tu tiup dia ada minyak-minyak bah. Kadang-kadang buli bunyi.. kadang² angin saja keluar. If I play too much on SAX, the trus main flute, memang inda jadi punya. Tu mulut susah mau adjust.. mangkali suda tua bah ni kan..?? I have a few more flutes and a fife. Costed me a few ringgit only. I rather use these to play in the church than using the standardflute. I love collecting bamboo flute also. I have about 5 wooden flute (including a LARK hahaa), a Yamaha fife and a Chinese Dizi. I would like to have an Irish flute tapi mahal.Bamboo Flute. Suba tarai ini sample Pungit's Flute. Saya rekod tanga malam. Clarinet - 1997 Another good luck. But its not a LARK Clarinet though. This taukeh (different taukeh) said he wanted to sell his own clarinet. I didn't ask why.. nanti dia tarik balik offernya. Putar punya putar, pusing punya pusing... jeng jengg... OK.. dia bilang harga RM300.00. Wow! Punya untung.. itu brand SELMER (PARIS). Wooden lagi itu! My Selmer Clarinet Once I reached home, I tried to blow but to no avail. Bau terbirak mau tiup pun tiada bunyi.No wonder this chap had been wanting to sell this junk, I said to myself. Dan begitu-begitu laa itu... I declared it rosak and useless. Bahan koleksi saja laa.. nda juga rugi bah itu. AND then.. early this year, I visited this Orang Utan Music Centre (KK) and had a talk with its manager. He offered me some soft reeds. It could be because of the reed and air escaping, he said. Sampai rumah, tukar reeds, and I changed/adjusted some of the pads.... and the result??? WOW! I almost cried! Suaranya butul butul bagus... Tu seribu libi ringgit punya haraga sudah tau! I am still learning. Its much more harder than saxophone. Its harder than trumpet. Its harder than flute. Why? Coz it squeak easily especially on higher octave. Tapi inda apa...banyak masa lagi.. One day I'll show you all yang siok itu bunyi dia. Listen to me practising. Pungit's Sound Violin - 1989 & 2002 Ahem ahem ahem. Akhirnya saya blazar juga balik violin. Sebenar-benarnya, I bought a SkyLark violin back while I was in the college for merely RM70.00. My room mate's (now, Dr. Willey) inital reaction was quite negaitve. "I'll throw it away if u play in the middle of the night!".. hahha... Seriously, I wanted so much to learn violin tapi nda pandai progress. Banyak pasir tu bunyi. And I had been wanting to make vibrato tapi nda juga pandai kurual. So I stopped playing (and even touching) that violin sampailah dia rosak. Then, in Feb 2002, I bought a new one ( eurostring ) for RM450.00. Pic I paid RM70.00 for a four session with the teacher (I attended three times only). My intention was JUST to know the basic way of holding/bowing and how to make a vibrato. Lapas dia kasi tau saya cara² semua, I immediately stopped! hahaha... budu punya karaja.. Is that considered cheating? No laa... I didn't promise maa.. I even told him awal² yang saya hanya blazar 1 bulan saja... keeeeeehoiiiii.... Wanna listen me practising? Ok.. jangan ketawa... tapi sini laaa saya blazar..Jangan harap sangat, it may take 5-7 years to master playing a violin. So you can try opening this website in 2007. [Month 1 ] [ Month 2 ] Updated!Violin made in Sabah! Ever heard of that? Well well well, he is making violins, and they look like the real violin! This man, Lungan from Pituru Kelawat, Kota Belud have been selling many 4/4, 3/4 violin for the past years. If you are interested, just contact me. He happens to be my uncle. Price ranging from RM150-RM250. Here is the picture of Lungan's Violin. Bunyi ada macam itu european punya! updated 16.10.2002 serender.... Violin is not for me.. or rather, I am not for violin. Saya sudah 5 bulan tidak praktis. Panat tu jari memicit ngkali.. nda apa... give me another 5 years. Sompoton - 1/1/2003 Jangan lupa daratan! Tapi hampir saya lupa in local punya bunyian. Actually Sompoton is a tradional music instrument in Thai, Laos , Vietnam dan Cambodia. Tapi di Sabah we have improvised it. Dulu bunyi dia ada minor. Sikarang they created ones with major key sampai one octave. I bought one recently (November 2002). Susah mau main. You have to stock banyak angin sana perut because most of the air blown escape out thru all the pipes eventhough those pipes are not being played. And the fingering is quite awkward. I have asked a freind to reconstruct a more userfriendly sompoton supaya injoy main. Design sudah saya kirim bah. Kita tunggu dan lihatlah. Panflute - 25/2/2003 I really love this instrument. I've made 3 sets so far. One made of 1/2" PVC pipe, a 1/2" stainless stell tube and the best one made of a 3/8" aluminium pipes. The original panflute is made of high quality bamboo/cane. Those canes (8 tubes at least and it can be as many as 32) are arranged and glued side by side and sound is produced by blowing across the open end. The panflute is held vertically, macam tiup botol coke bah! Try it and you will hear a beautiful that is both ethereal and haunting! [Pungit's Sound] Music Writing (1987 - 1993) Long taim ago... saya suka karang lagu tau... Mainly HYMNS. I started composing a simple (Infact all of my hymns are simple!) while I was still waiting for my SPM result. Kepenatan ketam padi, jadi karang lagu laa... luahan hati konon. It took me 3 days to finish the first one. Cepat kan.. apa tidak.. lagu budak2 punya...And started with the second one rightaway. That was it! No more lagu ini 1987. Tapi masuk sana college, trus banyak idea. I bought a 50 ringgit guitar for this purpose. I managed to write 28 hymns in 1988, 13 in 1989, 7 in 1990, 6 in 1991, 11 in 1992 and 8 in 1993. Mind you, all without lyrics. Only music. Ada yang volunteer mau tulis? I'm in the process kasi masuk sana PC jadi MIDI file. Sudah mau 20 sudah yang kana convert pi MIDI.. so one day saya akan kasi dingar kamu sumua. Nda boleh sikarang.. nanti lari nasib saya... So that's it. I don't like drum and I don't like electric guitar. I don't intend to learn and to own these. Apa lagi saya mau kumpul? I would like to have a trombone , an Oboe, a professional wooden recorder, a shanai dll. Moga-moga murah rezeki dan panjang umur... KEEEEEHOIIII!!!
