The Gaslight
Our gaslight on the west side of the house wasn't very bright because of the "burners". These are actually mesh bags made out of silk and can be purchased at most hardware stores. This is a Coleman brand for portable gaslights, but they also work for our application. Be sure to shut off the gas and let the entire unit cool completely before touching anything. The bags are attached to removable ceramic fixtures and are easy to install. A note of caution: When relighting, do not blow on these as they begin to burn, no matter how tempted you may be. They will form a smaller shape in less than a minute. Blowing on them will cause holes to form, which was the reason we needed to replace them to begin with. The light emanating from the latern is really bright now, even in the daytime.
