Ever since Chinese was used as a medium of
teaching
students feel fear, alienated and want to shun from English
This reflects in their lack of an English sense & feel
in their writing
They read not, they write little
Teachers teach a lot, but have no time for consolidation
Some dont even have time to mark enough compositions
Therefore, they assign less
And students write even less
The whole school, every form is in danger
Our Titanic, which has been sailing steadily for years,
may not necessarily stay afloat next year
Parents give their children to you
hoping that you will churn out something
So pressure we have though some may not feel it
Our target
is not only the F.4, not only the cream
It's the big bunch in the middle.
The bottom few, if they can't be helped
let them go,
quietly
But at the beginning, you have to assign
You have to check their homework, classwork, be tight, demand! So
they feel you are demanding.
Our approach
Speak English in Class
give them something solid they can hold on to
give them a reasonable amount of work in class
but let them work a lot at home, on their own

Back to basics
They must read, and write
That's our demand, bottom line.
Our students dont like English

16 in 3B
Quantity may not become quality
But quantity do guarantee those willing ones take in
what you give them
So
Be firm, have some demand
