Time for Students is a good monthly magazine
There are a lot of hot issues in there, with pictures
in simple English with Chinese translations,
lists of vocabulary, grammar clearly explained along side the
text
Students love to read it, maybe we should teach it, next year.

It's expensive, parents may complain,
students may read the Chinese only
Go international? There is already the Ming Pao!
And how many articles are you going to teach from it
If one or two, why dont you just photo copy?
And how? How are you going to systematically teach it
there is the Chinese already
and set exam questions on it
What if the parents don't want to place order
What if not every student has it
What if they have already read it at home
See, you have to think of the worst and prepare for it
New ideas, especially in foreign language teaching, never work
instant wonders
Yes, there are many problems with the old system, like the
exam
But if you do away with it, the whole system will collapse
Because I know
most teachers only function under the old system.
Sure some teachers can work miracles without the textbook and
exams
But if students dont buy what you sell, like the Matric
students,
even if what you are selling them is good stuff
They will still go out to seek help elsewhere
Remember this, new solutions bring new problems
Shoot out all the problems first, and be prepared to solve
them.
And if teachers still like it, by all means go ahead.
--------
I guess the main problem is whether we use it and teach it or
not
--------
Frankly, I really dont know how to teach it every month
I dont think I can teach without a proper textbook
What about trying it in the two cream classes only?
What about trying two articles first?
I think we have to talk about it
We haven't really discussed it.

What about the ICAC?
There are families who are getting Government's subsidies.
....
Now I know what you've been going through
keep writing
I wont bother you.

My pleasure
