Hello and Thank You for stopping by. Losing Jacob is one of the hardest things I have ever had to endure in my life. We had no Idea things would turn out the way they did. Jacob was born 5 weeks early with ARPKD ( Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Diease.) we had no idea anything was wrong up until the time he was born. I had normal ultrasounds every month but the one thing they missed was his Kidneys were enlarged and I had no Amniotic fluids. This type of Polycystic is recessive which means both parents have to carry the same gene genticly and instead of passing one good gene and one bad which would have made him a carrier like his dad and I he inherited both bad. We never had any idea we carried the gene for ARPKD. There is a 75% chance of us having healthy children and a 25% chance of the next ones being infected. There is prenatal testing out there that can be done called the Linkage testing. Where they take fluid from the baby at 10 weeks gestation and grow it's cell then they match the genetic from the deceased child. This test is 99% accurate. And hopefuly some time in the near future they will find the Gene for Polycystic. Please support your local Kidney Foundation. I feel so Blessed to have been able to have Jacob he has forever changed our lives and we know he's always smileing down at us from above. Theres not a day that goes by that I don't thank God for him ! |
