The idcandy Fan Website
idcandy has broken up. They basically lapsed in practice and in the writing of new songs, and decided to end their long ride. The members have since begun the very preliminary stages of a completely different project, adding members and moving around instruments. More on that as it develops. For now, this page will stand as a tribute to the wonderful music that idcandy made while together. The band's website: www.idcandy.net is still there as a resource for lyrics and minimal randomness, but is unlikely to be updated ever...
And some mp3's courtesy of The Washington Post are here, where you can download Open Wide (Appears on Safety and Fins), Pop Rock Hell (Fins), and Tied To (Fins)
idcandy was:
Michael Reilly (vocals, guitar)
Sam Goldman (bass, vocals)
Julian Goldman (drums, vocals)
You might ask, "What kind of music does this band that i have never heard of play?" Well, depending on my mood, i might tell you to shove it, or i might tell you that, on their website, they call the music that they play "groove rock." However, i prefer the characterization that Julian gave me--somewhere between speed metal and punk. Sam and Julian have clarified this as Black Sabbath on Speed combined with Fuel. Indeed.
You might also ask, "Who in the name of Andre Braugher are these crazy musicians?" Well, you could read their bios here, but if you don't have the evil internet explorer, you can only read the band bio. You could also read another bio here on their Washington Post sponsored page. Or, you could read about their critically acclaimed releases below. Cough.
idcandy has put out two CDs:
Safety, an 8 song EP produced with a four track analog recording device, recorded live to tape, and mixed by the band.
Cover art, track listing, and lyrics can be found here.
and Fins, a 15 song full length album produced with a Boss BR-8 Digital Recording Studio much more professionally (albeit still in Sam and Julian's basement and mixed by the band) than safety.
Cover art, track listing, and lyrics can be found here.
The titles of both these CDs are fart jokes. Go figure.
and that's it. RIP idcandy.
