ZSH3 Snitch Report - Hash 161 |
Snitch Report #161, The Samobor Hash, faithfully submitted by AAA and Big Country And it was BEAUTIFUL! Virgin Hares Drago and Stanko set a compelling trail from Samobor's main square up to the castle making sure they included parks, rivers, forests, friendly people and hordes of barking dogs. This is only Drago's second Hash. Kingfisher punished Drago's many sins then, back on 28 April at Hash #151, with a whopping eight down-downs so I guess we're lucky that he returned. Joining the pack were The Bolter, Carmen, Twinkle Toes, Humaje, Goldfish, Cheryl, Charma, Stanko, Erika, Drago, AAA, Seka, Rali, Kelvin, Baby On On, and Big Country. Up, up, up from the main square went the trail. The climb meant that the FRBs didn't "R" for long. The rest of the pack shed jackets and sweatshirts rapidly on the way up the hill, and a wheezing pack assembled at the first checkpoint, near a chapel on the hillside. The second checkpoint posed an interest puzzle: TWO circles on the ground. Much speculation ensued as to the meaning of the two circles, until the hares arrived and explained that there were two circles because it was checkpoint number two. In hindsight, it made perfect sense! A few adventurous hashers passed by the "enter at your own risk" signs and explored the ruins of the 13th-century castle. They were rewarded with spectacular views of the region from the windows in the castle. The less-adventurous who skipped the castle tour were rewarded with down-downs instead. The Hash Circle attracted much attention in the main square and many curious bystanders who particularly enjoyed the Hymn. Guest RA Twinkle Toes was honored for thirty years of Hashing (he started at age two, he claimed, to much skepticism from the pack) and shared that he is the second Twinkle Toes, having been named after his father. The pack retired to the nearby restuarant, Havana, for interesting cocktails and fabulous Mexican food. Next hash: the away hash in Dubrovnik the weekend of 18-20 October. Make your travel plans now, and enjoy the pearl of the Adriatic, in the gloriously uncrowded offseason! |
