ABOUT ME

Jazak-Allah Khayr for dropping by! Yes, my real name is Zahra =). I was born and raised in New York. My parents are Pakistani. I'm the youngest of seven children...the eldest, my sister Aishah is married and has 3 really cute kids Masha-Allah =). So I'm an aunt =). My parent's third child was a boy who was to be named Muhammad Ali Haydar. He passed away just a few hours after birth 21 years ago (Inna Lillahee Wa Inna Illayhee Rajeeoon) and they instead chose, Riza Ilahi to be his name which means "the Will and Pleasure of Allah". Please click here to read the dedication poem that my sister made for our brother.

As for the future, ever since I was a little girl I've wanted to become a teacher just like my big sister. But then one day when I got my computer, all that changed =). It looks as though Insha-Allah I'll be majoring in Computer Science. I love web designing...but it would be a dream come true if one day I can go to the Middle East to study Islam for a while.

I have many interests. I absolutely love learning about Islamic history and history in general. I have a particular interest in the Seerah (Life) of the Prophet, in Al-Andalus (Muslim Spain), in the Ottoman Empire, and the Khilafah (Islamic Government) in it's perfection and how it's meant to govern the entire structure of Islam. I love comparative religion, science in the Qur'an (especially Astronomy...love it). More things I love are web designing...I don't know much yet, but it's been interesting so far =).

Another thing that I absolutely LOVE (I love a lot of things btw =)) is reading about the characters and lives of great Islamic figures, both Prophets as well as their companions. My favorite Sahabah is 'Umar (RA). His strength of character was amazing. But of course I love them all =). And my favorite Sahabiyah is 'Aishah (RA). Her knowledge and zeal for learning was astounding. I also love that she was so amazingly down-to-earth and I can relate to her in many ways.

Alrighty, on to the stuff that I dislike =). Well there are not many things that I dislike. One is definitely ignorant people. Okay, it's true, a lot of people say that. But seriously..it kind of gets on my nerves when people don't open their minds and their hearts and think from all perpectives and not just the one they were born in. This is what Islam teaches us. To have an open mind and open heart and to accept the truth. Other things I dislike are: people always writing in CAPS (uff!!), people who talk about others behind their backs, and I dislike, but more than dislike, my heart weeps for those that distance themselves from their parents and family, and from Allah.

Errr, okay, and whoever sees this, no laffing, I'm not done making this site yet! uff!
