Lisain the Angel

~Chatper 1: The Great Fall~

He gazed upon the skies above in valiant dismay. Oh, how he longed to once more be high above the clouds and triumph through the ocean blues skies as before. Those days were once before and long gone now, and he had to look on to what was ahead. Lisain had been what they called him before, when he had glorified through the sky, and he decided to keep the name. He was well known in the above, protected by the angel guardians of the throne, but he had not been on land before and seen the wonders on this land, planet Karsh, could offer. His surroundings intrigued him, the dirt, plants, animals and even the sparkling water. He was able to keep his sword after the fall, falling from the clouds after that horrific battle. He was still too wounded to fight, or to even move much at all. His wings, once so pure and gallant, now in tattered shreds, useless for the time being. He was afraid that he would be stuck here on the ground for quite some time. He looked around at the surrounding trees towering overhead, the birds in the sky and the various plants around a nearby pond. The sky was getting dark, the stars were starting to show in the night sky and his senses grew weary and tired, and found himself asleep within a few minutes.
He woke, the sun gazing down upon him, surrounded by the morning dew and an unfamiliar figure by his side, and quickly he crawled back and away and spoke, “Who are you?” The figure, a female angel replied, “I’m Xaphania,” and she smiled happily at him. He pondered what it had meant, an angel here?
He smiled nicely back, and looked at her intriguingly. “How did you end up here, and how long have you been here,” he asked and looked at her and waited for her reply. She replied, “I got bored of the royalty, and just the way of life up there. It was all too familiar, so I came looking for something interesting, and wound up here.” He nodded some, satisfied with her answer and thought a bit about what she had said, and what had happened, the fight, the attack, the pain, and the great fall. He tried to get up, but he couldn’t, and she came to his side once more.
“You’re hurt! What happened,” she asked, nursing him and helping him lean up from the ground some. He replied, “It’s a long story..” She smiled happily, “I’ve got plenty of time,” she said grinning at him, quite interested, so he began to tell her.
“There’s a war going on up there between the Royal thrones of Palies and Valdmor. I was at the war front against Valdmor’s forces, and ended up having a one-on-one fight against his best, and lost. Badly,” he said, glancing at his tattered and limp wings that lull from his back to the ground. She frowned, and looked at him once more, studying his wounds, “You’re hurt badly, aren’t you?”
“Well, let’s see, I can barely move, I have wings and yet I cannot fly. Take a wild guess,” he answered her sarcastically. She smiled and shook her head slowly, “Let me try and help,” she said as she held out her hand over his war broken body. He stared up at her, intrigued and quite interested in what she was doing. His eyes lit up as her hand began to glow a mystical green, which slowly fell and covered his whole body in which he easily recognized as magic, but he hadn’t seen anything like this before. The glow that fell about his whole body was rejuvenating, and it healed his wounds quite nicely, but not completely, as the green glow faded away with the flowing wind. He tried to get up, and much to his surprise, it didn’t hurt to move. He glanced at his wings, still tattered and lying limp, lulling down against his back.
“Why didn’t your magic heal my wings,” he asked her, quite curiously, and somewhat confused, as the rest of his body was somewhat healed, yet his wings much quite the same. She took a quick glance at his wings, not much of wings in the first place in his previous condition, nor now and answered, “Hmm. I don’t know. I’ve never tried healing another angel before, and only your wings were unaffected by the spell, right?”
“Yeah, I wonder why it didn’t heal my wings,” Lisain said and stood up, hilting his sword to it’s sheath on his belt. She stood and contemplated about why the spell didn’t affect Lisain’s wings, then said aloud, more to herself, “Hmm.. I wonder.”
“You have something in mind,” Lisain asked curiously. She looked at him and smiled a little and nodded slowly and spoke, “Yeah, but we’ll have to wait a while.” Lisain pondered what she could have meant. Surely it didn’t take up that much magic to use that spell…Did it?
“Why do we have to wait a while, what can we do later that we cannot do now,” Lisain asked her, wondering what she had in mind. She looked at him from her trance of lost thought and said, “Well, we’d have to wait for the effects of that last spell to wear off, of course.” Oh yeah! Duh. Lisain had shook his head, not believing that he could have forgotten the danger of using a spell before the effects of another spell had worn. It was basics in sorcery, “Of course.. But, what do you have in mind?”
“Well, I was thinking about using some magical herbs, some sort of a regrowth spell…” Lisain nodded some, smiled slightly and thought for a minute. Some sort of a regrowth spell, hmm. It may just work.. But, what if it doesn’t? And how does she know so much about magic? Lisain’s thoughts came to a halt as Xaphania asked, “So, what part were you from up there?” She had an interesting look about her, a curious little smile of wanting. He thought back and answered her question, “I am prince Lisain, son of Asaroth, Ruler of the East. I had lived in the castle above for as many as 15 years. And, how about yourself?”
She nodded some and smiled, “I’m from a village of a sort named Tlec, of the South. A boring place, really..” Lisain nodded, and replied, “I wouldn’t know, this is actually the first time outside of the castle boundaries besides on my errands or debuts on the front line..” She gasped, quite amazed, “Wasn’t it boring in the castle,” she asked, quite curious, and a bit interested and somewhat amazed. Lisain answered, “Well, yes, but, I wasn’t exactly allowed outside of the castle boundaries unless I was sent out with an errand, on a flight lesson as a youth, or sent into battle..”
Xaphania gave an interested look, and asked, “It’s been crazy up there, huh? Hmm, I wouldn’t really know, I’ve been here for a number of years. I don’t even remember what it was like anymore.. I’ve just been living in this forest and protecting it.” Lisain looked at her, listening to her with interest and nodded. A calm wind blew by, the grass and the trees swayed along with the wind as though they were sending their graces to the wind as it rushes by. He looked up at the sky, now getting dark, the stars showing their gallant shine in the sky and the moon, guarding overhead, the sun setting to the west. He looked at her once again and spoke, “We should be finding a place for the night, it’s starting to get dark.”
Xaphania smiled and nodded to him, agreeing that they should find a place for the night, “Yeah, I’ve got a place.” Lisain smiled and nodded, “Lead the way.”

~Chapter 2: Trance Forest~

They treaded through the dense forest, the setting sky seeming to illuminate the forest in a mysterious way. The grass and the trees swayed along with the wing, as it rushed by them, in its usual fashion. It made him want to fly once more, but he could not, as his wings were tattered and limp, uselessly flowing with the wind with no control, as they continued to walk on a narrow path. He watched his surroundings as he walked calmly behind Xaphania, noticing the leaves, the life, the sky and the various sounds echoing throughout the forest. It was somewhat eerie, as he was curious to what most of these various sounds were from. The path led them deep within the forest and eventually they came to a small house, made of branches and logs.
