What is biomedical science?
What is biomedical science? Biomedical science is a continually changing, dynamic profession with long-term career prospects including management, research, education and specialized laboratory work. Here you will study life processes to gain an understanding of health and the principles of disease. Subjects covered are broadly similar to the pre-clinical components of a medical Programme with the addition of advance subjects such as molecular biology, radiobiology, ergonomics, nutritional biochemistry and on the effect of industrial activities upon our health and the environment. In other words, biomedical science is the application of biology-based science to benefit medical science. As 21st century medicine and healthcare becomes increasingly sophisticated, the demand grows for highly skilled biomedical scientists capable of performing research to cater the needs in these areas and provide new and essential information for improving medical science and other health aspects. Biomedical scientists aid in the evaluation of the effectiveness of laboratory diagnosis, and contribute in research into the causes and cures of diseases.
