"Sir, I think we-"
"I know, Juna. I can feel it." Grendo stood, his new metallic frame dwarfing the hispanic woman. "Take us down."

The twisted frame that settled to the asteriod's surface bore little resemblance to the massive Dreadnaught Juna once commanded. The xenofungal mass had long encased the bulk of the ship, but with its constant growth, the mighty ship was slowly crushed. In many places, adamatine plasteel was simply bored through by the tubular growths.
Since the main exit hatch had become one of those places, the onboard staff had a simple method for exiting the ship.
The explosion was rather small, actually. Barely enough to clear the way. It did the job, though.

Three entered the asteriod. Juna, Grendo, and cyborg called Peiotre. When they entered the main chamber, only the cyborg maintained composure. Grendo, even in a massive mechanical frame looked like a kid in a candy store. Juna was simply amazed by the sheer size.
Although nearly every aspect was shrouded by shadow and dust, Grendo walked as though he'd seen the place before.
"Grendo... what is this place?"
"Long ago, a form of life unraveled the secrets of a soul. What makes it tick, what makes it exist... what it IS. This place is where they used that knowledge."
"How?"
Grendo stopped, his mechanical body tilting up. "Godhood is a fair aproximation."
Juna watched the Mechaniod frame, "Godhood, sir?"
"Just watch." Grendo extended a hand towards the darkness. If the chamber had air, a metallic clan might be hear as five wires shot from that hand into the black wall.
"Initiate Eternal."
Immediately, everything flared to life. Collumns of blue light climbed from a carved stone floor up into the far distant crystaline ceiling.
All of these were nothing to the crowning achievement, the massive curved wall Grendo was currently plugged into. Millions of lights swirled about just below its surface, ocasionally broken by points of absolute darkness.
This time, even the cyborg was impressed. "Scans show miniture stars within this chamber... but the gravitational force isn't there. Sire, what is going on?"
"In due time, Peter. In due time. System, begin download."
Once again, everything exploded in activity. But while the first was life, this was death. Grendo's frame shook and screeched as sparks flew from every joint. The collumns of azure light flared crimson, then faded to black. The beautiful chaos of the wall became an insane patterns, then a yawning crevice into insanity, and finally black as night.
For a moment, everything was silent.
Juna found herself holding her breath, waiting for something to break the silence.
She didn't have to wait long.
[Let there be light.]
Later on, both Peiotre and Juna realized they didn't hear the voice, as much as experiance it.
Once again, there was an eruption of light. Behind the wall, a massive swirling helix of light ripped into existance. A swirling silhuette of a man appeared within the spiral's core.
"Grendo?"
[It's so beautiful... for the first time, I understand. Infinity streaches before me... and I understand!]
The figure streached its hands upwards in pure joy as the lights and colors intensified. [Thought, time, space, all as one!]
The cyborg saw it first. A flicker in the light, then a shadow flying through the light, finally a grinning face of darkness watching the exhaulting figure.
"Grendo!"
If he heard, Grendo didn't react quickly enough. The light fell away as the darkness surrounded the figure. Grendo realized what was happening exactly too late.
[NO!]
The shadow fell upon him, engulfing him entirely.
