JORGE MATHEUS
Jorge Matheus is a singer, composer, lyricist and guitar
player who was born in Campinas, SP - Brazil.
Taking with Brazlian pop music since 1975, along of this time
he has been developing a proper style wich is influenced by
"Bossa Nova", "Movimento Tropicália" and "Vanguarda
Paulista". In the earliers 1980, he was a member of the initial
composition of the band "Isca de Polícia" which was led by the
musician and actor Itamar Assumpção, and sang with Vânia
Bastos, Virgínia Rosa and Suzana Salles. He acted with the
guitar player Celso Machado and with the journalist and poet
Carlos Rennó.
He is son of the small acoustic guitar (known as "cavaquinho"
in Brazil) player and composer Nenê do Cavaquinho and he has
several awarded musics in festivals as the following: Feira da
Vila Madalena - São Paulo (1980): 1st. place with the song
"Tem Maria" ; Festival Nossa Música - São Paulo (1989): 3rd
place with the song "Minha música".
In 1991, he put forth a demo tape with 10 songs by himself,
among them: "Toda canção", "Longe dele", "Tem Maria",
"Toque alegre" and "Minha música". Currently, this
musician develops a research about audio in computing,
writing musics to home pages. His Internet site
