My Precious Lilly

Take my hand gently my love
The years have not been kind
And why now do you come to me
When long ago you left me behind

He looked at her with caring eyes
Burning, so full of tears
And said, "My precious Lilly,
I've not forgotten you all these years

I traveled many a rough road
I cruised some smooth ones too.
But branded in my heart my sweet
Was the love I felt for you.

So, my precious Lilly
On bending knee I pray
You'll forgive my foolish heart
And take my pain away.

She touched his wrinkled brow
She wiped his tears away
She looked into his eyes and said,
"I can only promise today".
