I Went Online

I've learned some very special things
With you I wish to share
It's something you could never know
So I will take you there.

I learned that life is much to short
Before I didn't care
I didn't need a friendship
I didn't need to share.

And then one day I went online
I surfed, I laughed, I played
A new found land of wonder
For hours and hours I stayed

Then suddenly a link appeared
Friends and pals galore
Curiosity kept me there
But I never opened the door.

Weeks went by and still I surfed
Everyday without fail
Then one day it hit me.
Hey, I want to get email.

So with trembling hands I placed an ad
Do you want to be my friend?
And sure enough within two days
I was hitting reply and send.

And funny, I pray more now
I see the world anew
Because even a heart as closed as mine
Needs a friend or two.

They make me laugh and make me cry
They help me take control
With loving words and constant faith
They reached into my soul
